Psychology 101

"Mr. Jones, you understand this is a study of sexual attitudes among different kinds of people, is that correct?" The questioner was a middle-aged woman wearing a business suit. I had answered an ad on campus looking for volunteers for a psychology study on human sexuality. It paid $200 for about five days spread out over as many weeks. When you are a student that is a lot of money.

"Yes, I understand that, Dr. Enlo." I answered. I suppose you should know I was a 20-year-old history major. I played tennis and racquetball on a nearly daily basis so I was mostly fit. Dr. Enlo would learn this and many other personal facts before the interview was over.

"First, we need to group everyone according to their current experience and attitudes toward sex. Then, if you are chosen for the study you will have to agree to abstain from all sexual contact, outside of this lab, for the five weeks of the study, including self-gratification. Is that understood?"

I wasn't delighted about abstaining from sex or masturbation for five weeks but it still seemed like easy money. I agreed to the terms.
