Kate checked the table; everything had to be just right. Meanwhile, Tom checked the DVDs, making sure he'd put the right disc in the cover; it had to seem like a genuine mistake. He went back into the kitchen, took her in his arms and asked, "Are you sure, babe?"

She turned to him and smiled. "Yes, you know I am. I only hope he doesn't realise that we've planned this or you'll be in trouble."
