Having been divorced for a while and in no hurry to get involved in another serious romance I kept my social life fairly breezy and drifted with the flow. I met a couple of guys that I dated for few weeks but nothing that really got excited. Then I met Steve at a work function.

Stephen is a nice guy. That is the first impression. About 6 feet tall, slim but not skinny, dark hair cut conservative to match the image of a corporate player that he is. We met at a function where his company was launching their latest product and I was there with a couple of our people to evaluate it for our own corporate needs. Our initial chat was business like as we mingled and discussed the product. Towards the end of the event we bumped into each other and after more professional chit-chat he asked if I would like to share dinner with him at a quiet Italian restaurant around the corner. His approach was non-threatening and as I was mildly hungry and in need of something to eat I accepted.

Over dinner of spaghetti with meat sauce and a glass of Chianti we chatted and compared personal notes. He was 33, I'm 29. He was single after a couple of long-term relationships, one of which involved sharing an apartment, while I am divorced. We discussed music and movies and generally had an easy uncomplicated dinner. Two people sharing a meal. We swapped business cards and added personal email addresses then went our separate ways.
