Allita sighed...for the third time; each sigh a little louder than the last. She looked at Vergie out of the corner of her eye while pretending to read a magazine. Her friend appeared intent on the story she was reading.

"Don't!" Vergie didn't take her eyes from her book as her friend took another deep breath.

Allita tried nonchalance, "Hmm?" she breathed; but to little effect.

Turning to her friend and lowering her book Vergie demanded, "Why are you bored so soon, this is what you wanted to do, isn't it?"

Although her brain suggested it Allita decided not to repeat the "Hmm", she knew just how far to push her friend's patience.

After a pause to consider the consequence she blurted out, "I want to f... I want Darrell", her muscles tautened in preparation to fight or flee.

It was Vergie's turn to sigh. "So what's new?" she faked a yawn.
