Chapter One - Gloria

At the relatively young age of 55, when Gloria lost her husband, she felt that the end of the world had come for her and she cried a great deal. Her dear husband, Arnold, had only recently celebrated his 56th birthday and he seemed for all the world to be fit and ready for a long life ahead of him. But that's heart attacks for you. No early warnings, no symptoms, no one saw it coming. At first Gloria couldn't come to terms with the fact that her one and only love was no longer there beside her, and it took a very long time to get used to the devastating void created by his absence. She shut herself away, she cried, and despite the loving support of her many close friends, she was entirely inconsolable for a very long time.
