Around a year ago, I decided I had to start getting back into shape. I'd always been a big guy--played on the offensive line in college--but I'd stopped lifting weights and let my body weight balloon up to around 33O pounds by February 2O11. I finally bit the bullet and joined a local YMCA and started to lose some poundage. I'm currently down a full 5O pounds, but it looks like more as I've also started weight lifting again and have added a good amount of muscle to my body. This information sets up an early Christmas present I received on Christmas Eve 2O11, just a few days before the submission of this story.

The YMCA was open until 1 in the afternoon on Christmas Eve and I've gotten to the point with my workouts to where it bothers me if I don't get them in. I was running late, didn't get there until 12:45 or so, and Marcia, a secretary, was locking the door as I got there as the other customers had emptied out already. "Marcia, wait!" I yelled as I ran to the door. "Please, just a half hour on the treadmill?" She seemed annoyed, but agreed. "Only because you're a great member!" she said with a laugh.
