Beth glanced over at the clock before quietly slipping out of bed. She angrily looked over at her snoring husband before making her way out of the bedroom and down the stairs. She wasn't worried about him waking up; the 12 beers he drank plus the 3 sleeping pills she'd slipped him would keep him out for hours. With any luck by the time he woke she and the baby would be on the other side of the state. She poked her head in her daughter's room to make sure she was sleeping. Satisfied that she was and hoping she wouldn't wake up Beth slipped on a long coat and walked out the front door and climbed into her SUV.

It was about a fifteen minute drive to her husband's police station which gave her time to think.
