My wife Julie vows to make my life miserable if she ever finds out that I have cheated on her.

What have I done? Perhaps if my wife Julie, wouldn't have invited our new neighbors to our house for dinner, she would not never have discovered my infidelities. All it was supposed to be was a chance for the four of us to get to know one another and to welcome them to our neighborhood. They seemed eager to get to know us, and we were looking forward to seeing if we had anything in common with them. Since they were about our ages and seemed to be on the same playing field as us, in terms of finance, social level, and appearance, thus we felt there was a good chance we would hit it off with them. We tend to enjoy people who are out-going and who tend to stay in shape. Money, while I hate to mention it, could possibly be an issue simply because we would feel the most comfortable with those people who have roughly the same income as what we do. A few days earlier in the week, I had noticed that Jim had a set of golf clubs and a center console fishing boat, so I figured we had two things in common. Right off the bat, I figured Jim and I would get along fine. Gail, and Julie had met face to face at the cluster mailbox and Gail had invited her to stop by her house. Although Julie's visit had been brief she couldn't help but notice how spotlessly clean their home was and the large number of house plants of numerous varieties, that decorated the interior. Naturally, Julie loves plants, both inside and outside of the house, not to mention that she is a real neat-nik, so I assumed they would hit it off well too. The evening had started out fine as the four of us shared a bottle of wine and then ate dinner. Afterwards, Jim and I retired to the family room and turned on a game while the girls cleaned up the kitchen. Once the ladies were finished they joined us and after turning off the TV and opening another bottle of wine, we got down to some serious conversation. At some point, Julie asked them how long they had been married. Gail responded by saying three and a half years the first time and five so far this time. I guess she must have noticed the surprised look on our faces and felt the need to elaborate, because she immediately went on to explain that she had caught Jim having an affair and she had filed for divorce.
