A STUPID BET

Chapter 1

It was really a absolutly stupid bet, at least when I'm looking at it from nowadays. That we thought about it under the influence of alcohol, or to tell the truth: being completely wasted, is nothing more than a lame excuse.

But let's start from the beginning: It had been all in all a very bad week, so I met my buddy Thomas in our favourite bar, the "Achtung, Babe" (named after an album of U2). It's a perfect place to chill out, with great tunes, yummy drinks, you can dance (if you want to) and the hottest girls of our town usually hang around here. That's not so unimportant, is it?

But tonight it was all about getting drunk, because this had been the last working week before the start of my vacation, but then my colleague called in, feeling sick, so I had to manage four times the usual work (twice is normal in that company). This led to the fact that I couldn't finish my part of the project (I'm a software engineer, by the way), and that led to some ugly words from my boss.

As I said, a really bad week. Best thing to do on this friday was to gulp it down with a few heavy shots and forget it. ...
