Nathan Meyers was a third year associate at Craig and Wilcox, a highly ranked corporate law firm with branches in Manhattan, Chicago, San Francisco, and a new one opening in Paris. He was fluent in French, having had a Parisian mother and a father from Sierra Leone and he was hoping to be picked as one of the associates who would be starting the new branch.

He passed his first interview for the new position. There were three and his second interview was with one of the partners, Jonathan Craig.
