Chapter 5: An Evening of Swim and Sin

They had the three main suspects' fingerprints on file. Each man had touched the photographs that federal BOI Agent Mitchell "Mitch" Monroe showed them. When he left them, he wrote their name on the back of the photo to correspond with their print. The sticky residue from the developing chemicals provided a perfect surface for collecting oily fingerprints. Now if they could possibly connect their prints to the case, they'd have their killer.

All three men had excellent motives for wanting Graziella Romano dead and didn't have solid alibis. Two had an affair with her, were intimate with her and could possibly be the father of her unborn baby. The third belonged to her social circle and reportedly was obsessed with her. He bad mouthed her paramours and became livid when a relationship grew serious or she dated someone new. Spurned lovers often graduated to enraged killers. He wouldn't be the first to murder someone so ferociously by slitting her throat especially if he learned she was pregnant with another man's baby.

Of course Mitch also had men investigating Graziella's father and his associates. Angelo Romano was a Mafioso involved in a variety of illegal enterprises including prostitution, gambling, and bootlegging. ...
