The Will(ie) Of God ----------------

2005: A Friday night. My friend Jo and I have met up every Friday night for years. If you've read some of my other stories you will know that we (before I was married) tended to alternate between pulling a guy or two guys, (or more, sometimes) and having a night with each other.

The Friday I refer to here was scheduled to be a Jo-and-I night but ...it didn't work out to be! I was in a pub in Solihull, sat at the bar, waiting for Jo, who I knew to be en route because she'd texted me to say so and to get her a drink in. A double vodka with red bull to be precise. She meant business.

There was one guy who was sitting alone at the bar. He'd looked over at me a few times, fleetingly, but not looking like he was 'after' me.

He had an air of calm, of peace about him. I was just finishing my glass of wine when he ordered his drink and I heard him order one for me:

"And one for the young lady, whatever she's drinking" he said

I would normally refuse this kind of thing but something made me agree and accept the proffered drink.
