A NOTE TO MY READERS: One of our fellow readers pointed out to me in a private e-mail that I had made certain mistakes in the level of rewards, and the promotions in rank that our friend Josh has earned by the time these encounters take place. As a retired veteran myself, I must admit that it would be very difficult, indeed, for Josh to have received all the training and promotions he has earned up to the point in time which these stories take place in his short military career. This is called "creative license," something every author uses to enhance his stories. I use the same creative license when I write fictional tales about the Civil War. If I have offended anyone, particularly other veterans who read these stories, I apologize here. As a former company commander, I once had the unfortunate responsibility to reprimand a young soldier for wearing awards he had not earned.
