Vixxen has been publishing at ES for around eighteen months; her first story, "Asian adventure, white fling," appeared here in August of 2009. Since that time, she has not been a prolific writer, but she has certainly proved popular. "I am still amazed that once I had enough stories to be eligible for the list (5 or 6 I think) I was the 20th ranked author on the site."

Q. What was your most recent one?

The most recent one was "Once in a Lifetime." When I did this interview it was the #1 ranked lesbian story (although I have to admit there is a guy in it in one scene, the story categories don't always work all that well).

Q. Now, is there anything you'd like to tell us about yourself?

I'm in my early 30s, Chinese, live in Singapore. I work in the food & beverage industry. I'm a lesbian.

Q. How and when did you begin writing erotic stories?

I wrote a couple of stories that I never put up on ES.com since I wasn't really satisfied with them. Then I wrote "Asian adventure" and it got such a high score that it really encouraged me to write more.

Q. Have you published anywhere other than ES.com?

No. I thought about putting some of the stories on Literotica but I find the site so hard to find my way around that I didn't bother.

Q. What is it about writing erotica that you most enjoy?

I enjoy trying to write plausible stories with realistic dialog and hot sex. There has to be a story arc that gives a context for the sex for me, both when I write and when I read.

Q: What is your favorite category to write in, and why?

I think my favorite category is "ff: first time". Because in real life it is such fun to entice a woman into her first experience with another woman ;) And so it is fun to write about it too.

Q. How much of yourself do you include in your stories?

Chapter 1 of Violet is based on real-life events but everything else is complete fiction. Of course some of the sex is based on my experience (or fantasies).

Q. Is there anything that happens in your stories that you would really like to try in "real life", but haven't yet been able to?

Yes! I would like to try having sex with men. I've never let a man fuck me. And I would like to have a white fling like in "Asian adventure, white fling"

Q. Does your partner or any of your friends know that you write? What do they think?

A couple of friends know. One friend thinks it is an intriguing aspect to me since in real life I'm actually quite shy but then I write these explicit stories and even put up naked photographs of myself on my profile. Most un-Asian.

Q. What, if any, difficulties do you face when writing - erotic writing difficulties and general writing difficulties? And how do you overcome them?

I don't really find writing all that hard. I think the most difficult thing to get right is pacing the story so that it builds up gradually without becoming uninteresting.

Q. How about in more general terms - how do you feel about the "outside world"'s perception of erotic writing?

I think erotic writing is just one aspect of sex where there is the usual mixture of religious and moral strictures contrasted with what actually goes on. For example, it is actually illegal to be a lesbian in Singapore. Like that's going to stop anything.

Q. One thing that I love about ES is that you very quickly build up a community of fans, who enjoy writing to and hearing from their favorite authors. Do you have any favorite topics that have surfaced in these "conversations"?

The most interesting is when I get enough information from someone to write a story for/about them. A couple of my stories are like that, written for women that I have never met, just exchanged emails with.

Q. How do you feel when you receive negative comments or very low votes from readers?

I've never had any real negative comments but it does annoy me when someone gives a story a score of 6 when everyone else is 10s with a few 9s sprinkled in.

Q. What kind of stories would you never write?

I don't write (or read) stories about things that don't turn me on.

Q. And do you read, and respond to, other writers on the site? Who are your favorites?

I occasionally email other authors if I particularly like a story. I tend to come to the site and then just see what stories are new, look interesting and are rated above a 9.

Q. Do you remember the first pornography you ever saw?

The earliest porn I remember watching was Japanese. A man tied up a woman on a chair with her legs spread. In his hand, he was holding a white rotating dildo. He was moving towards her menacingly. However it was of poor quality and not really a turn on.

Q. What's the kinkiest thing you have ever done?

Having sex in a car at an open air car park while it was raining heavily. Because we were so engrossed, we didn't notice when the rain stopped and another couple came to the car beside ours. We literally froze and stopped in mid action, hoping minimum movement wouldn't attract attention. I've always loved public sex.

Q. Do you have any fantasies that you would like to fulfill?

I used to fantasize about having sex with a woman in her bedroom and having her younger sister walk in on us. The younger sister would watch us secretly. I would look at her while I bring her sister to an orgasm. The fear of getting caught is always something exciting for me.

Q. What is a major turn on for you during sex?

Someone who is as willing to try new things as me.

Q. How about a major turn off?

Someone who just likes there like a starfish in bed: no sound, no movement.

Q: How do you feel about same sex relationships, both personally and as a writer?

Since I'm a lesbian I whole-heartedly approve, of course. And mostly that is what I write about although some of my stories have a man in.

Q. Do you explore these feelings, positive and negative in your stories?

I don't really explore the politics of same-sex relationships in my stories. I just take them as a given.

Q. How long does it take for you to write a story? Could you talk us through the process?

It varies. I start by having the basic idea for the story and that tends to determine the structure. Then I pretty much start at the beginning and write until I reach the end. Then for the next few days I read the whole story again and fix up anything that I don't like. One of the tricky things is getting the sex scenes the right length. Too short and they are over too fast, but too long and they just get boring. Sometimes I get someone else to read it and give me their opinion before I put it up on ES.com

Q. What do you think is the best story you have published here?

I'm particularly fond of "Up at the Crack of Dawn" because I decided to write an American High School coming-of-age story despite, obviously, not having gone to one.

Q. Is there anything else you would like to say to the readers of this interview and your fans? Now is your chance...

Writers like feedback so vote and tell us what you think.

Q. Finally, do you have a website or a blog, where your fans can visit and maybe learn more about you?

I'm afraid not. As I said, in real life I'm quite shy so I'm not sure how much I want people to learn about me!
