I have to admit, the first time I read one of Deb4164's stories ("Say Cheese"), I fell in love. Because I knew exactly how she felt as the events unfolded, and I responded in more or less exactly the same way. Only she was a lot more adventurous than I was, that first time....

Deb has been publishing at ES for a little over a year; her first offering was "Mike," back in July 2011. She recalls, "it was a sort of fantasy written as a gift to an older guy that I met in a chatroom. He was 30 years older and having ED issues so I wrote the story as a gift. He loved it!" So did a lot of other people. Since that time, she has published five stories, two two-parters and one stand alone tale. Her most recent, "Not Teasing Now," was the second part of a two part series titled "Teasing Steve," and she explains, "the series chronicles the summer after my divorce, when I discovered that the son of a neighbor was voyeuring me while I sunbathed, and my subsequent teasing which ended in seduction. It is substantially true, although I did take liberties with some dialogue and facts." And some liberties with him, too.

Q. Now, is there anything you'd like to tell us about yourself?

In real life I am a network administrator, sort of a nerd, and when not writing erotica I enjoy gardening, hunting and fishing, and process the fruits of these labors myself. This includes freezing, canning, smoking, butchering, and cooking. I am not an eco-freak but very concerned about the world we live in so do a lot of composting and harvest rain water. If you haven't guessed by now I love being nude in the outdoors and that is also my favorite place for sex.

Q. How and when did you begin writing erotic stories?

About a year after my divorce I realized that my life was pretty much out of control. I had been fairly conservative up until my marriage but became deeply conflicted after my husband and I began to do things that I enjoyed on one hand but disapproved of on another. We eventually reached the breaking point, but like an addict, once he was gone I still needed the fix. I made a lot of bad decisions, and had a lot of fun, but eventually came back to my senses. Sometimes at night, though, the needs tended to get out of hand and I would spend a good bit of time reliving things that I had done. This seemed to help so one day I sat down at the computer and started remembering things. Some were good, some were bad, some were bad but felt good. When I reread the stories later I would find myself saying, "Good for her" or "Don't do that, girl". It helped. Over time I came to terms with all that had happened and can see that there was bad in the good and good in the bad.

Q. Have you published anywhere other than ES.com?

Funny story! My best friend works as an admin assistant and often has to access her boss's computer. One day she found this amateur porn site that he visited frequently and we hatched a plan. I took several photos of her naked in very subdued light making her features fairly indistinct and submitted them to the site. He never did seem to be really sure it was her but certainly suspected. After seeing her pics there I discovered that they had an area for stories. Just for fun I wrote a couple of short ones and read a lot of the others. Most were real garbage but one in particular stood out so I sent a message complimenting the author. (S)he replied and told me about this site where (s)he had published a number of things. I came here, read here, and started publishing here. This is the only place I visit now.

Q. What is it about writing erotica that you most enjoy?

I can say what I really feel. I can't imagine sitting down with a coworker, a neighbor, or a family member and talking about how much I love to suck a guy off or how I introduced a young man to the world of sex. Here, behind the mask, I can do all that and more. It also gives me the opportunity to try things out I've never done, mentally at least, without suffering any attendant risk.

Q. What is your favorite category to write in, and why?

Exhibitionism, hands down. I absolutely love the feeling I get from being seen or watched while nude. I like seeing others as well, but the main rush is in them seeing me. Most of my stories, if not all, involve some sort of public or semi-public sex or nudity.

Q. How much of yourself do you include in your stories?

At this point all of my stories are either autobiographical or fantasies that I find exciting so there is a great deal of me in them. My writing is a sort of "exhibitionism of the soul" if you will.

Q. Is there anything that happens in your stories that you would really like to try in "real life", but haven't yet been able to?

Not in any of the ones published so far. I do have one in progress that looks promising. If it turns out the way I think it will, I will pick a photographer at random from the phone book and schedule a nude shoot.

Q. Does your partner or any of your friends know that you write? What do they think?

No, they don't. I have thought about telling my partner but some of my stories reveal vulnerabilities that I'm not sure I want to share at this point with people I know in person.

Q. What, if any, difficulties do you face when writing - erotic writing difficulties and general writing difficulties? And how do you overcome them?

Probably the biggest one is that I get a story idea, want to write about an experience, and am in a rush to get from beginning to end so have to force myself to slow down and fill in the in-between bits. Or, the characters have casual sex enroute to something else of more importance, but I know from fan feedback that the fans want to know every detail of the sexual encounter. To me the other event is the more important but I have to force myself to supply the details. A very common problem I have is starting to write about a fantasy and not being able to come up with an ending that really works for me. Those stories tend to get shelved and those fantasies are as well.

Q. How about in more general terms - how do you feel about the "outside world"'s perception of erotic writing?

I think that for the last thirty years or so, most of my life, the lines between 'romantic', 'erotic', and 'pornographic' have blurred to the point that it is difficult to differentiate among them. I have known women who would likely have burned a book labled 'erotic' while eagerly devouring it if labeled 'romantic'. (Can you spell Harlequin?)

Q. One thing that I love about ES is that you very quickly build up a community of fans, who enjoy writing to and hearing from their favorite authors. Do you have any favorite topics that have surfaced in these "conversations"?

Yes! I love it when a fan contacts me and proceeds to tell me how my story reminded him/her of an event that happened in their own life and thanks me for writing it. It is also great when a fan expresses their wish that they could have experienced something similar in their own life. When either of those responses includes a compliment on my Profile Photo it is even better. My least favorite topic is along the lines of, "Great profile pic, how about one of your spread pussy?"

Q. How do you feel when you receive negative comments or very low votes from readers?

In a word, disappointed. Still, I get paid the same for a story regardless of the vote (nothing). I write because something inside wants to come out. I publish because that something wants to be shared. My principal satisfaction comes from seeing my product posted. That said, I think any really low score should be accompanied by a decent critique of the deficiencies that caused it. The only ones that really bother me are the ones that are five or below, and come from an anonymous account that has never given a rating higher than five. These are either from another author trying to boost their rating by lowering mine or from an online troll denigrating the contributions of others because they have nothing of their own to contribute.

Q. Lol, I'm glad I'm not the only person who suspects that! Okay, next question... what kind of stories would you never write?

I don't think that I can positively rule anything out at the moment. There are things that I don't write about because I'm not interested in them but that doesn't mean I may not be in the future. For example, I'm not into BDSM but admit to having fantasies about some mild forms of it. That interest could continue to develop. As far as taboos go, they limit what I publish, not what I write. I think that every girl who had a really wonderful father probably suffered a bit from the Electra complex as she entered puberty, I know I did. I also admit to having had sexual experiences with boys my age before the age of 18. I have written about both those things, I just don't publish them.

Q. And do you read, and respond to, other writers on the site? Who are your favorites?

Yes I do, and I have had some very helpful exchanges with some. I am going to pass on naming favorites for fear of missing someone really important or hurting feelings.

Q. What's the kinkiest thing you have ever done?

Oh wow (blush)! I guess the readers can take their pick:

1) My husband and I came home wearing only our towels from a pool party where everybody ended up naked. I was trying to unlock the front door when he grabbed my towel and pulled me out into the grass. We had sex in our front yard with the door still locked. We didn't get caught but I sort of wish we had.

2) My husband joked that he wanted a nude barmaid at his birthday bash. I threw him a backyard barbecue and halfway through the evening took off all my clothes and served drinks. Being the only one in the group naked was a super hot feeling and he loved it.

3) After my husband and I signed our divorce papers, I landed at a friend's house and got very drunk. I ended up having sex with her husband while she watched. It was her way of trying to comfort me.

Q. Do you have any fantasies that you would like to fulfill?

I have a comment on my Author Profile that says, "Fantasies allow us to explore things that read better than they live." When I was younger I tended to think something sounded exciting and wanted to go do it. Now I like to write a story about it. If I can come up with a good ending quickly then it may be someting I would like to try. If I struggle to find a happy ending then it is probably not going to go any better in real life.

Q. What is a major turn on for you during sex?

A tongue? Just kidding! Well, I mean, yeah it is, but there are other things too. I hate it when a guy does the things he does in a perfunctory way, like he is ticking off the list. "Okay, stroked tits, kissed stomach, stuck finger in pussy, now it's time for her to blow me." Hey, we all had our "first time" a long time ago, I know that. Still, some guys have a way of touching my breasts like they are the first ones that they have ever seen and doing other very skillful things like they are doing them FOR me rather than TO me. Those guys get every last thing that I can give them!

Q. How about a major turn off?

Farts are a major no-no, especially during oral.

Q. Ewwwwww! How do you feel about same sex relationships, both personally and as a writer?

I assume that we are talking about same-sex sexual relationships here? I'll be honest, I have had sexual experiences with a couple of female partners so I am certainly not going to condemn them. At the same time, I don't find myself attracted to members of the same sex in the same way that I am to men. As a writer, I think that any human relationships are worth exploring. What I find interesting is that men, in general, seem to enjoy the idea of two women together but not too many women seem to feel the same about two men, especially if one of them is her significant other.

Q. Do you explore these feelings, positive and negative in your stories?

Not in any that I have published. I am working on a rather lengthy chronicle of my life with my husband which will, if honest, have to include a couple of episodes of FF and FFM sex. As far as negative feelings go I simply don't write about them.

Q. How long does it take for you to write a story? Could you talk us through the process?

This answer to this question requires either a sentence or a book. Let's see, the published story (of mine) that I like the best took something over six hours and came about because I read someone else's story and said, "That reminds me....!" Usually it's not that simple.

First off, I don't just sit down to write a story. First I have to have some motivation, and my motivation generally comes from sexual frustration. That starts me either remembering or imagining and that in turn leads me to writing. I have several nascent stories that are lying unfinished simply because I got laid before I finished them and lost the impulse.

On average, without interruption by orgasm, I figure it probably takes eight hours to do a four thousand word story and then another couple of days to edit it to the point of acceptability. The time to produce longer stories increases exponentially.

Q. What do you think is the best story you have published here?

I think that my best one is entitled "Say 'Cheese'" It hasn't gotten the best reviews but in my mind it hit a home run as far as capturing and expressing my emotions and saying what I wanted to say.

Q. That's my favorite too! And I agree, you really did capture situation there, not only what was happening but also how you felt in and around it happening. I still remember my first photo session too... although that's a story for another time. So finally, is there anything else you would like to say to the readers of this interview and your fans? Now is your chance...

Yes, I greatly appreciate my fans! I can imagine no higher tribute to my efforts here than the emails I have collected from those who have seen my stories as a reflection of their own lives and thanked me for that experience.
