CATRIONAM INTERVIEW

CatrionaM has been with ES for some five or six years, although you will search in vain for those earliest tales. "I wrote my first story way back in 2006. This has now been deleted as in all honesty, however sexually interesting it might have been, it was quite badly written. I might rewrite it one day."

No matter, another from that distant age still awaits your pleasure, together with a mass of wonderful later writings. "It depends on whether you count multi-part ones as individual stories. I tend to think of them like that and thus can make a claim to over 20 stories, but technically there are I think 10 with three series, two three-parters and one eight-parter. The longest series starts with Country Pursuits, a fantasy of a young-man-and-older-woman meeting in a lunchtime sandwich queue. He spots her assets, she satisfies her breast-sex fetish and the rest is, well, the story. Or rather eight of them, developing in all directions and configurations, from more breast-sex to lesbian to gay to group and threesomes in various configurations."

Her most recent was Silk, "a vignette of barely a thousand words, and - completely unusually for my stories - 100% true! It is also my first story with a ''proper'' fetish theme- not a particularly adventurous, but delightful nevertheless - and it's about silk knickers and the effect they can have on a freshly shaven pussy."

Intrigued? I certainly am. So, tell us a little about yourself, please.

As an author, the one thing I would really like to say is that I love, love, love receiving feedback. Who doesn't? Any feedback: about the writing, the plot, the setting, the turn-ons and turn-offs, and anything that the story might have done for you.

I really get off on the comments that go into sexual detail, so please don't be shy. I write porn to play out my fantasies and to turn my readers on, so I love to know if and how it happens.

Q. How and when did you begin writing erotic stories?

I think the first ones were simply fantasies in letters to a lover who was away. But the first story I posted publically was actually one for ES. I wrote it to get access to the picture galleries.

Q. Have you published anywhere other than ES.com?

I have a few texts on literotica, which I would actually like to delete but it seems an incredibly complex process. I am considering self-publishing in ebook format, but this is early days yet and may not happen for a while.

Q. What is it about writing erotica that you most enjoy?

Feedback! I like working out which of my own fixations, fantasies and fetishes will turn others on, and it's fantastic when I discover that they do. I suppose is a kind of exhibitionism, of the mind rather than body. But then it is said that the brain is the most erogenous zone of all.

Q. What is your favorite category to write in, and why?

I like writing in let's call them more transgressive categories. I have several stories in the lesbian section, but mostly with bisexual females. My FM stories are usually threesome or group. But my favourite high-level category is the ''true'' bisexual one, featuring MMF sex. It's not the one that I have most stories in, but it's the one I like writing in best, and it's the kind of fantasy that really gets me going big way.

I think it's the taboo, transgressive nature of these fantasies that I like. Many women (and men too) who are not lesbian enjoy lesbian porn, and it's not any less taboo to admit enjoying it than it's to admit enjoying ''straight'' stuff. Maybe even less. But, unless you are a ''scene gay'', interest in MM sex is somewhat out of bounds. I have been often told that I have a male mind, and I have always been fascinated by the idea - not just sexually - of androgyny.

Q. How much of yourself do you include in your stories?

All the stories are MY fantasies. I test-run them repeatedly before and while writing, to see if they work for me. So in this sense they are very real.

Most have a character that is in one way or another my alter-ego: prettier, more experienced, more sophisticated, richer, more single, sometimes younger, but essentially at least a bit like I am.

Some stories start with real events, embellished or not. Many include ''real'' people, or characters based on people I know or used to know. Very rarely the whole story is true.

Q. Is there anything that happens in your stories that you would really like to try in "real life", but haven't yet been able to?

In a kind of theoretical way, most of the things that happen that I have not done I would like to try in so-called right circumstances, but as I am in a committed relationship, I would not. But one thing I do certainly regret not having explored a little more when I was younger, and which I WOULD go for even now, is sex with women.

Q. Does your partner or any of your friends know that you write? What do they think?

None of my friends know, unless in very veiled and general terms. My partner knows, but doesn't delve: let's just say I don't advertise it in connection with my real-life identity.

Q. What, if any, difficulties do you face when writing - erotic writing difficulties and general writing difficulties? And how do you overcome them?

The biggest difficulty with erotic writing is treading a line between a hot fantasy and some form of realism, although this is a dirty word in porn, obviously. So although we are in this fantasy land where people are always horny and nobody ever gets thrush, there still has to be some, let's call it internal coherence. Also, a balance between the back-story and scene-setting and the ''action''is sometimes hard to get, but I have been encouraged recently by a positive reception of stories with longer non-sexual scene-setting.

Q. How about in more general terms - how do you feel about the "outside world"'s perception of erotic writing?

Well, it has all changed with the infamous Fifty Shades, hasn't it? Which is probably a Good Thing, though I didn't like the book itself. But it's still a little alternative occupation, I suppose due to its exhibitionist nature.

Q. One thing that I love about ES is that you very quickly build up a community of fans, who enjoy writing to and hearing from their favorite authors. Do you have any favorite topics that have surfaced in these "conversations"?

The favourite topic is, shamelessly, my writing! But I also enjoy hearing reader's individual stories, reactions and experiences. Some of these develop into longer flirtations, and occasionally more than that which can be fantastically enjoyable. One actually touched me very deeply and - this will be a big statement, but hell, we are all fantasists here - changed my life.

Q. How do you feel when you receive negative comments or very low votes from readers?

I seem to very rarely receive negative comments, and just ignore them. Low votes, they happen every so often but people have a right to their opinions and if my story didn't work for somebody or turned them off, well, that's the risk of submitting to public scrutiny.

I find stories of married sex, adultery, suburban wife swapping and suchlike boring, so I don't write those. For me, porn is fantasy land and we can let rip here, what's the point of including kitchen-sink tales of everyday petty sordidness that happens daily all around.

Q. And do you read, and respond to, other writers on the site? Who are your favourites?

I do read and respond to other writers, certainly. My favourites change frequently, and from many writers I love some stories but less love others. I like all fours stories by victor56, because they cover similar areas to my favourites. I think that CumGirl is a fabulous writer who transcends the confines of porn or even erotica, and I don't even like bdsm all that much. ElfinGirl wrote only two but extremely sexy tales of lesbian love. Otazel has some fantastic, long and well written tales here while pandsal manage to create very sexy scenarios in a very restrained, classy manner. I have just realised that all these authors are European. OK, Dancing_Doll writes very polished stuff which I certainly admire a lot, and of course you, Naughty Miranda, are a recognised mistress of the blow-job.

Q. Thank you! Do you remember the first pornography you ever saw?

My father had a stack of girlie mags openly piled up in the cupboard, but the first real pornography I ever saw must have been another, I think French one that was hidden in my mother's knicker drawer or something similar. I think I was fairly grown up then, I remember getting turned on by the pictures - a threesome with two men and a woman, another woman looking in from outside, masturbating, particularly sticks in my memory.

Q. What's the kinkiest thing you have ever done?

I have a very vague notion of kinky. I suppose sending my silk knickers, stained after two days of wearing and a lot of play, to somebody I have never met in flesh, for him to wear, would count?

Q. What is a major turn on for you during sex?

It's such a strange question really. I don't know! I like so many things my mind starts reeling when I try to sort them out in the order of preference. It does depend a lot on the mood I am in. Read my stories to find out.

Q. How do you feel about same sex relationships, both personally and as a writer? Do you explore these feelings, positive and negative in your stories?

As a writer, hey, majority of my stories have FF or MM or both in them. Personally, I am probably officially bi-curious as my FF experience is very limited. I think most people are somewhere on the dimension from 100% homo to 100% hetero, and culture determines the rest. In our culture there is acceptance of homosexual couples as a kind of identity thing, which is good. In ancient Greece, the idea of ''homosexual'' as an identity didn't quite exist, but older men had sex with younger men as well as with women. I have never been in love with a woman, though I did come close.

Q. How long does it take for you to write a story? Could you talk us through the process?

Anything from a couple of hours to weeks. Every story starts with a fantasy that excites me. Then the plot, if there is any, as well as details, get filled in. I test-run them frequently too :-)

Q. What do you think is the best story you have published here?

It usually is the last one I wrote. But I think in the MF/bi categories that the ''Story of N, Part Three, The Next Day'' is probably the best. It was inspired by an intense exchange with a stranger, and it took me a very long time to write, and it contains erotic energy of two fairly sophisticated minds which kind of egged each other on in the process of writing it. ''Swimming in Honey'' is probably my best FF story, tender and very sexy at the same time.

Q. Is there anything else you would like to say to the readers of this interview and your fans? Now is your chance...

I would just like to repeat: feedback, please. Feedback!

Please read CatrionaM's stories!
