RELTNEY MCFEE INTERVIEW

Q. How long have you been publishing at ES?

A. Since March 2014

Q. What and when was the first story you published here?

A. "Road Trip Tease", Mar 2014

Q. How many stories have you published since then?

A. Six, in total

Q. What was your most recent one?

A. "Camping With Kathy"

Q. Now, is there anything you'd like to tell us about yourself?

A. I'm simply a guy, who has lived a bit, and who enjoys telling stories, that entertain me. I've been in the medical field, in various iterations, for (mumble, mumble) years, generally in Michigan.

Q. How and when did you begin writing erotic stories?

A. Well, I started to write erotic stories, back in grad school. I was on a clinical, and encountered a young woman who was in the company of a young man who was, well, an idiot. He seemed to have no idea of the jewel this woman appeared to be, and I wondered how it might be if a self assured, experienced man of the world (or, for that matter, me) were to cross her path, and show her how a worldly man (or, again, me) might take her on a tour of the pleasures of the flesh. Still trying to finish that story!

Q. Have you published anywhere other than ES.com?

A. Yep. I have even written non porn! I've published in a couple of professional journals, as well as a couple of periodicals oriented towards self reliance. In addition, I cross post onto Storiesonline.net.

Q. What is it about writing erotica that you most enjoy?

A. I suppose it is a mix of the "I can write wank worthy material, in a manner that appeals to me", and "I wonder just what sort of world might have me and Ms. "X" in some sort of romantic interlude, and how that might unfold". So, you see, I'm deeply into fantasy!

Q.What is your favorite category to write in, and why?

A. I write B/D stories, because, I suppose, I'm compensating for moments wherein I have felt powerless, and because, while that is a sort of playtime that The Long Suffering Wife and I enjoy, neither of us like the "slut!" and "Cunt!" sorts of degradation and plain mean-ness that seems to populate much of bondage porn. I mean, I LIKE women, and while I have power fantasies, at the foundation of such things, what I enjoy the most about sexual exploits, is helping/watching/experiencing the woman climaxing. That really rings MY chimes! When I can help her orgasm, in the setting of a bondage game time, well, in that setting, everybody has a good time!

Q. How much of yourself do you include in your stories?

A. Everything is real, except that I really have a 10 inch cock. No, wait...That's not right...(sigh) Okay, nearly everything is real, except for the parts that are not. I try to obfuscate enough to preserve my (and otherwise innocent parties') privacy. On the other hand, I cannot, I think, write realistically about, say, being an uber wealthy software magnate, with women falling at my feet. My reality is much more sedate, and, for me, more interesting.

Q. Is there anything that happens in your stories that you would really like to try in "real life", but haven't yet been able to?

A. No, not really. Take, for example, the breast nailing sequence in Anniversary: I've never done it, and have no desire to do so in real life. The fantasy was entirely sufficient for me. Although, now that you mention it, the "several women at one time/in one evening" theme DOES have it's attractions......(Honey? Can we talk for a bit?)

Q. Does your partner or any of your friends know that you write? What do they think?

A. My Long Suffering Wife knows that I write erotica, and she tolerates it. In an odd sort of way, she is proud of me: a while ago, she was telling some of her family that I write for ES, until I dragged her aside and pointed out that such disclosures constituted an information security FAIL, of the second order. She changed the subject. On the other hand, she is affirmatively UNinterested in reading/critiquing my stories.

Q. What, if any, difficulties do you face when writing - erotic writing difficulties and general writing difficulties? And how do you overcome them?

A. The greatest difficulty that I have, is attempting to describe Humanity's Oldest Past-time, and doing so in novel and interesting ways. Face it, the wank-worthiness of the 45th iteration of "I plunged my dick into her willing pussy" is really quite low. I get engaged, and aroused, by descriptions that are not the same old stuff, and that are rich enough in details to allow me to imagine that I am plunging MY joint into my eager partner's greedy sex. (excuse me for a moment, I just remembered something I have to attend to. Something just came up....)

I address that problem by using the "college term paper principle", wherein it is easier to polish a crappy term paper into one that will earn you a reasonable grade, than to write the crappy one in the first place. Therefore, if I'm uninspired, I pound out some dreck, and figure that I'll fine tune it later, maybe at another inspiration-deficient keyboard session.

Q. How about in more general terms – how do you feel about the "outside world"'s perception of erotic writing?

A. That perception is why I feel that information security is important.

Q. One thing that I love about ES is that you very quickly build up a community of fans, who enjoy writing to and hearing from their favorite authors. Do you have any favorite topics that have surfaced in these "conversations"?

A. I've received several suggestions from readers, particularly regarding what might be considered "My Seventeenth Anniversary: The Saga Continues". I have started to play around with what that might look like, and I expect that I will, eventually, have another story to follow-on that tale.

Q. How do you feel when you receive negative comments or very low votes from readers?

A. Well, if there is particular criticism attached to it, like "your spelling errors are distracting", or "too many words, shorter accounts of sex are more interesting to me", then I try to see how I could adapt my writing to incorporate these suggestions. Simply a low score, or "you suck", well, I don't see how I can improve from that sort of feedback, and therefore I ignore it.

Q. What kind of stories would you never write?

A. Children. M/M. Those, off the top of my head, due to the fact that that sort of activity does not appeal to me. I'm sure that there are others.

Q. And do you read, and respond to, other writers on the site? Who are your favorites?

A. Read? Heck, yeah! Respond to? Yeah, from time to time. If I think that I have something to contribute, I'll set it out. Favorites? Of all the porn that I've read, and of all the porn I aspire to write, Samantha K pretty much sets the bar for me. In particular, "Sam At The Con". I'm an old Fire Department Medic, and contemplate what it means to be a man, or to be courageous, or the role of Duty in an adult's life, from time to time. In this story, she describes, in one paragraph, just what courage, what Duty, really is. I only wish I could write as well, as engagingly, as she does.

Just Plain Bob is simply outstanding. He seems to effortlessly hit a balance between engaging description, and being laconic, to draw me into the story, without bogging down into tab-a-into-slot-b detail.

Next, mcerotic's "Podiatrist" stories have been wonderful.

Another favorite is Dangermouse.

Q. Do you remember the first pornography you ever saw?

A. Yeah, and, Boy! Were those clay tablets heavy! I was so happy when they came out with porn on papyrus scrolls! Thank Thoth for papyrus!

Q. What's the kinkiest thing you have ever done?

A. Wow, gotta think about that one. Kind of a toss up between the Basement Bondage Bench (gotta be careful the kids didn't see that one!), and the road trip assignation, which I fictionalized a little bit in Road Trip Tease.

Q. Do you have any fantasies that you would be likely to fulfill?

A. Not really. Face it: young adult women have good looking young adult men drooling after them, and are highly unlikely to find myopic geezers as reasonable sexual prospects. So, while I certainly have sexual fantasies (have you read me?), I pretty much have done all the freaky things that I have wanted (and could talk my wife into participating in), and I am now pretty much on the sidelines. This is both due to geezerliness, as well as having a wife who is not into sharing me, and shoots very, very well, besides.

Q. What is a major turn on for you during sex?

A. The thought that my partner is really, really enjoying herself. Generally, her climax elicits my own.

Q. How about a major turn off?

A. The thought that things are not fun for her.

Q.How do you feel about same sex relationships, both personally and as a writer?

A. That's a question with a complex answer. I'm personally uninterested in same sex relationships. For that reason, I don't think I could write credibly about such a relationship. On a larger scale, I don't have a glib answer. I think that such a relationship is "wrong", but, I'm pretty sure that God doesn't require my assistance in meting out such Judgement as He desires. In the time between now and His reckoning, I figure that I owe His children respect, and my best efforts to do my duty to them (as a professional, as a neighbor, and as a fellow child of God), as I can manage. Otherwise, I like the libertarian "no first aggression" principle: I won't try to browbeat you into my viewpoint, and I might politely make such an argument as I can make, and you will do me the same courtesy. Or, more concisely, it's not really my business.

Q. Do you explore these feelings, positive and negative in your stories?

A. No, not so much. On the other hand, I have taken some steps towards contemplating F/F bisexuality in a couple of my stories. Maybe it's as if I'm thinking, "I like women so much, I could totally see how a woman could be into another woman!". Or, maybe not, and I'm simply another horny hetboy.

Q. How long does it take for you to write a story? Could you talk us through the process?

A. It depends. I wrote "Camping With Kathy" in a single evening. I'm still nibbling away at the "You're with an idiot! How come you're not with me?" story from clinicals, and that was ten or more years ago.

On the other hand, I'm working on an "Anniversary II" story, and while I have started with an initial scene and 4-5 sentence outline, last night I wrote another scene, that I'll try to work in later in the story, that came to me as I reviewed reader comments. It suddenly occurred to me that I could work Suzie into that story, maybe, and tell a story about a D/s relationship that goes wrong when one of the parties does not "get" consensual submission. I may get several scenes like that, that don't fit in anywhere, but that I can tweak the trajectory of the narrative to fit them in. Or not, and then they go into my "works in progress" folder.

Q. What do you think is the best story you have published here?

I like "On My Seventeenth Wedding Anniversary" a lot, both because it was cathartic for me, as well as I think the ideas are arousing. Some of the "Ex crawls back and receives revenge sex" warms my.....heart, and the smorgasbord of playmates theme is fun as well. It seems popular, since that particular theme runs through a lot of stories, here on the site.

I also like the Sandra stories. The woman on whom Sandra is based, is cute, smart, professional, and (I hope!) has no idea that she is featured in my fantasies, as well as porn stories. One thing I have to get around to, is polishing the ending/transition of "The Power of Word of Mouth Advertising". It's choppy and abrupt, and I think that there are things I want do with that story, that I have not yet done. I think that, with a final polish, "Word of Mouth" might be my best story.

Q. Is there anything else you would like to say to the readers of this interview and your fans? Now is your chance...

A. No, you have pretty much wrung me dry. Well, except for READ MY STORIES!

Q. Finally, do you have a website or a blog, where your fans can visit and maybe learn more about you?

A. Not presently.
