This time I have choosen Iainlthr, one of the M/M writers on the site. He currently has 26 stories on the site and is on one of the Top Author's list on the site. Read on to learn more about him.

Tell us about you:

Question: First tell us something about yourself, like name, age, and some other things we would like to know about you...Let’s call it a short bio.

Iainlthr: Okay, my name is Iain Robertson [on the internet anyway], and I’m 46. I’ve been with my partner for 15 years now and we live in the Inner West of Sydney, which is where a lot of my stories are set. Not long after my partner and I met, we sat down and confessed to each other our most secret fantasies. It turned out that both of us shared a secret fantasy of getting into leather and role playing, but we weren’t interested in the leather ‘scene’, and wanted to keep that part of our lives separate from the day to day stuff.

Question: What are you wearing right now?

Iainlthr: Right now, pretty boring just jeans and a sweater. Ask me in a few hours when my man gets home and it will be a whole other story let’s just say lots of black leather.

Question: Does your spouse or significant other know you write, and if so, what does he/she think?

Iainlthr: He knows I write, but feels a bit ambivalent about it. He doesn’t want to see what I’m writing, but he does like reading my stories on the net! And it works great if there’s something new I want to try, and I put it in a story, he will often say ‘let’s try that’! Sometimes, he’ll go the other way, and comment that he could never do that, so I know not to push, although that’s rare!

Question: Is it difficult for you to keep your writing life separate from your professional life?

Iainlthr: Not really. Although sometimes I find myself thinking of scenes or situations I’d like to write about while I’m at work, which kinda breaks the concentration a bit. And when work gets busy, it tends to slow my creative juices so my writing slows down, or dries up altogether.

Question: How did you come up with your ES nickname?

Iainlthr: It was the nickname I chose when I set up my hotmail account Iain and leather got shortened to iainlthr not very original, but it said what I was about.

Question: What brought you to EroticStories.com? What made you want to stay and become a part of it?

Iainlthr: I found ES when I was following a story on another site, and the author specified that more of his stories could be found on ES, so I went looking. I like the set up of the site, and the feedback/voting system, although it can be really frustrating at times. Sometimes I wonder if I’m being paranoid, or if there is someone out there who has it in for me. It’s incredible to me that I can have a story posted which gets a whole stack of votes of 9 or 10, then a single 4 or 5, followed by more 9s and 10s.

Question: What is your favorite part of your body? Why?

Iainlthr: Hmmmmm! I guess I would have to say my nipples. I have incredibly sensitive nipples, even more so since I had them both pierced, and I LOVE having them played with. My partner calls my nipples my ‘on’ button because he knows that one touch and I will be as hard as steel. Not that it takes much for him to do that to me anyway.

Question: If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be and why?

Iainlthr: What, just one? I’d love to have the body of Adonis, the wealth of Bill Gates, the personality of … you get the picture. If I had to choose just one thing to change, I guess it would be my shyness. I can be so incredibly shy, especially meeting new people, that I know I’ve missed out on a lot of experiences during my life by being too timid.

Question: Boxers v Briefs? / Panties v Thong?

Iainlthr: Both. The cotton/lycra boxers for comfort during the day, and tight black leather briefs/thongs for play time.

Writing Habits:

Question: What do you like the most about writing erotic stories?

Iainlthr: That’s an easy one the comments I get back from readers. I love it when someone writes to tell me how much they like a story of mine, or when they let me know that one of my stories has inspired them to try something new for themselves. The more detailed the comments the better, and they usually get more detailed responses from me. One reader Inga was so enthusiastic about my last story, ‘Changes’, that I think I was looking forward to getting her responses more than she was looking forward to each chapter.

Question: How long have you been writing now? How did it all get started and what made you write your first story?

Iainlthr: It seems so long ago now… I guess about 6 years ago when I wrote and had my first story posted. I had been surfing the net for porn pictures when I came across a site that had both images and stories. I read a few of the stories and found it quite a turn-on to imagine the characters and what they were doing, instead of just seeing the graphic images. That led me to search for more story sites. But a lot of what I found was very basic stuff you know, the old ‘I fucked him hard, it was great’ kind of thing, without any plot or story. And so much bad grammar and non-existent spelling! I figured I could do better than that, so I wrote a couple of short stories just for myself. The first story I wrote and posted on the net was ‘Fair Day’, a kind of coming out to leather story. It’s not exactly autobiographical, bit more what I wished had happened to me when I was a lot younger. I was amazed when I started getting emails from people who had read it, telling me how much they liked it, and that inspired me to go on and try other things. Several people told me they really liked my writing style, but couldn’t get into the whole ‘leather thing’, so I tend to divide my stories in my own mind into leather and non-leather categories.

Question: Which of your stories is your personal favorite, the one you enjoyed writing the most, and/or the one holds the best memories or feelings for you?

Iainlthr: That’s really hard to answer. At the risk of sounding egotistic, I love all of my stories. ‘Joy to the World’ certainly got the most number of responses, and the most passionate of comments from readers. I received comments that people cried several times, that they found it extremely emotional. Even now, I still get regular feedback from readers saying they have re-read it and still love it.

The other story which still earns comments, and which also seems to have struck a real nerve for readers, was ‘Family Christmas’. So many people have told me how emotional they were when reading it, which is really gratifying because it’s probably the closest to an autobiographical story. My own ‘coming out’ to my parents happened in a very similar way, at Christmas, and the ‘happy ever after’ is that my partner and I still travel up the coast every year to spend Christmas with my family.

The story I most enjoyed writing, was ‘Nick and Noah’. It was inspired by a suggestion from a reader, and supposedly very loosely based on the old ‘Thin Man’ movies. It was both a challenge and really gratifying, to try to write what ended up being a combination of erotic story complete with sex, lots of leather, and a murder mystery all rolled into one.

I guess the story that holds the best memories for me is the latest, ‘Changes’. Maybe because I’ve just finished it after taking a long while to write it, maybe because it was the first story I actually tried to plan in advance rather than just sitting down and letting it flow out of my head.

Question: Have you ever gotten so turned on while writing that you had to stop to masturbate? What story was it?

Iainlthr: Yes, several times. The first one was writing ‘Black Boxes’. I fantasised about playing out the whole scene, and had to stop a couple of times to ‘relieve the pressure’! The same thing happened while I was writing ‘Opposites Attract’. In fact, if I’m not feeling pretty horny, and leaking a fair amount of pre-cum when I’m writing a sex scene, then I figure it’s not exciting enough, and wipe it and start again.

Question: Do you write from fantasy or true stories or a combination of both? Please explain or give an example.

Iainlthr: Fantasy, with quite a bit of reality thrown in. What I mean is that all of my stories are fantasy, but every one of them has elements of truth, even if it is just the emotions or feelings of the characters. Some of them are very close to reality, like ‘Family Christmas’ and ‘Leather Lovers’. Others are almost pure fantasy like ‘Dark Stone’, except that the main character feels the way I would feel in the same situation.

Question: Are the characters in your story based on real people, did you make them up, or are they a combination of both?

Iainlthr: See above! Seriously, all of the characters are made up, but a big part of the makeup is myself or someone close to me. The beginning of ‘Dave’ is straight out of my own life, when I met up with a guy I went to school with, and on whom I had a huge crush but never did anything about it. When I met him years later, we were both with someone else, but he confessed that he had also had a crush on me at school, and again had never been game enough to act on it. And in ‘Leather Lovers’, the two main characters are very closely based on myself and my partner when we first started exploring leather.

Question: What parts of "Yourself" do you put into your characters?

Iainlthr: I think I’m starting to repeat myself. My characters almost always have my emotions, my opinions, my desires. In a lot of ways I guess they are me, or at least what I would like to be.

Question: : If there was one trait you could take from one of your characters in your stories, and put it in place in your real life, what would it be and why?

Iainlthr: A muscle-bound physique with sculpted pecs and a washboard stomach for obvious reasons. I’m serious! Apart from that, the confidence to go with my feelings and desires, since my natural shyness seems to get in the way of that sometimes, although I’m trying to get over it.

Question: How long does it take for you to write a complete story? How does the process go?

Iainlthr: It depends on the story, on my mood and inspiration, on the weather …

Sometimes I can write a story in one sitting. Other times it can take me months. More often than not, once I get started the story tells itself. In most cases, I start out with a basic idea for a story, but by the time I’m finished it has changed completely. It’s almost as if the words type themselves when I really get going and I have honestly been surprised myself with the way it has ended up. In fact, the most difficult part is usually finding a way to finish. I hate it when a good story goes on too long and becomes stale, so I like to finish my stories while they still have some power in them.

Question: How do you come up with your story titles?

Iainlthr: Generally, they are suggested by the story itself. Some are just the names of the characters ‘Dave’, ‘Nick and Noah’. Others come from something important or central in the story itself ‘Black Boxes’; and others from a concept or keyword, usually near the end ‘Changes’, ‘Unchained’.

Question: What is the hardest part of writing a story?

Iainlthr: Starting and finishing. The middle part actually writing, is the easy bit. I find the hardest part is getting started, and then the next most difficult thing is finding the right way to end the story.

Question: Have you ever done research for a part of a story you didn’t have any knowledge about or maybe for a sex scene?

Iainlthr: Yes, but usually more for background information than the main action. For example, I went exploring in the Royal National Park when I was writing ‘Joy to the World’ to get a better idea of the geography for the setting of the hidden cove. And I checked on travelling times for the long drives in both ‘Nick and Noah’ and ‘Changes’. I don’t know whether it qualifies as ‘research’ but I have tried out most of the positions and activities I describe in my sex scenes, just to make sure they really do work!

Question: Do you have any secret stories you don’t want to publish for the public? Do you publish your stories on other sites besides EroticStories.com and if so, why? Have you ever been published on paper?

Iainlthr: No, all of my stories have been posted somewhere on the net. The vast majority of them are on ES, and the ones that aren’t probably will be at some stage, when I get around to it. My only difficulty is that I seem to have a ‘split’ fan base. Some people love my romantic stories and are put off by the leather and/or dominance stuff. Others are right into the kinkier ones, and find the ‘normal’ ones boring. Although surprisingly, there are a lot of people who tell me they really enjoy both. More than once, I’ve had comments along the lines of ‘I’m not into leather at all, but I still found your story hot and a great read…’.

I also post my stories on nifty archives, and for a while I was posting on ‘Men on the net erotic stories’ although they tended to cut off the endings without explanation, so I’ve given up on them. I first started posting to a site called ‘Tommyhawk’, but stopped when I realized that there was a lot of stuff with youngsters on there which I don’t agree with at all.

I was also invited to post on a site called Archerland. It has some great writing there, but over the last year or so, the owner of the site has been in serious financial difficulties, and the site itself has been all but abandonned. ‘Changes’ started out as an exclusive for that site, but the final chapters were never posted, so I re-started it, and finished it, on ES.

Question: When you receive negative comments do you just ignore them, build from them, or let it put a negative image over the story itself, and let it hinder your writing?

Iainlthr: No, I don’t ignore them. I try to analyse them to see if they have any merit, and if they do I try to adapt the story to take account of it. If I don’t think they have any real relevance to the way I feel or write, I usually try to respond with a polite version of ‘we all have different opinions, sorry you don’t share mine’. I have, once or twice, suggested to people that they might like to simply not read my story any further if they dislike it so much.

Reading Habits:

Question: Do you also enjoy reading erotic stories? Which categories do you enjoy the most? Do you like true stories or fantasies?

Iainlthr: Yes, I do enjoy reading other stories very much. I don’t tend to look into categories so much, the story itself is the most important thing. It doesn’t matter whether its true or fantasy, but whether it’s entertaining. And it has to be well written. I really don’t like stories that fail the spelling/punctuation/grammar test.

Question: Do you vote on other author's stories? How do you decide what score to give when you do?

Iainlthr: Sometimes, although not often enough. I read the whole story, then decide on the basis of how I have responded to it. I’ll take points off for poor construction even if it’s a great plot. I have never given less than a 5. If it is that bad, I will know before I’m finished, and then I just don’t bother to complete it or to vote.

Question: Do you send other author’s comments or feedback on their stories?

Iainlthr: Again, yes, although nowhere near as often as I should, which is really hypocritical, since I love receiving comments on my own stories so much.

Question: Do you have a favorite author on ES? What makes them your favorite?

Iainlthr: There are several people whose stories I read, and re-read, and enjoy every time. ‘jfinn’ is one. She actually did some editing and suggestions for me on the early chapters of ‘Changes’. ‘Lael Stalnaker’ is another who writes great stories, as well as ‘Kai’ and ‘Ardveche’, ‘Nick Archer’ and ‘K Nitsua’. All of them know how to put together a great story and to write it well, so that the reader really enjoys it.

Question: When you read a story do you: A. Touch yourself and come around the same time one of the characters do? B. Touch yourself but wait for the end to come? C. Touch yourself but wait until after you finish the story to come, such as after going to bed? D. Not touch yourself until you are finished and then continue thinking about the story and come? E. Any other variation you may do? (Please tell us what it is)

Iainlthr: Ummm, depends on the story. Sometimes, none of the above. If the story does get me going, I tend to either ‘C’ or ‘D’ some occasional touching or not touching at all while I’m reading, then reliving it in my mind later and using it to cum, either in bed or when I’m having sex.

Sex Habits:

Question: Do you enjoy the visual side of erotica, as in porn movies or pictures? If so, do you have any favorites?

Iainlthr: Absolutely. I find both movies and pictures stimulating. I think everyone does, they just don’t admit it. I can’t say that I have any particular favourites although I guess it’s obvious by now that anything featuring leather is going to be a plus for me. I’m not all that impressed with solo stuff. I would much rather see a couple or even a group scene that watch someone masturbating.

Question: Do you remember the first pornography you ever saw? Tell us about it?

Iainlthr: Now we’re talking a long while ago. I’ve always known I was gay, even before I knew what ‘gay’ meant. I remember seeing pictures of women in my brother’s stash of magazines, and wondering why he bothered looking at them, since they did absolutely nothing for me.

The first porn I remember getting excited about was a collection of pages torn from some magazine. I found the pages in a cave near the beach where I was a junior lifesaver when I was about 11 or 12. Interestingly, the pictures were set out like a story board, so they told a story [without words of course] and showed a man and woman meeting, then stripping and foreplay before fucking. I was turned on by the images of the guy, especially the close-ups of his cock during a blow-job and intercourse, but I think when I look back that the idea of a whole story, rather than just isolated images, also made it so much better.

Question: Have you ever participated in erotic photography? If so, please tell us about it. If not, would you rather be the photographed or the photographer?

Iainlthr: Only with my partner, and only for our own benefit. I don’t have the body to go around showing it off to complete strangers in photos. We sometimes take photos or video of ourselves while we’re playing, and then look at them later to relive the excitement, or to inspire even more.

Question: What do you wear to bed?

Iainlthr: Nothing at all. I can’t sleep if I have any clothing on, even on the coldest winter nights.

Question: Do your sex life and writing have any correlation with each other??

Iainlthr: Yep. Especially my ‘leather’ stories. As I said earlier, my partner loves reading my stories. So we often play out something I’ve imagined and written about. And there have been a few times when we’ve tried something ourselves which I have later used in a story.

Question: How would you rate your willingness to try new things in bed?

Iainlthr: Very high. One thing my partner and I excel in is being ready to try almost anything, and being able to tell each other if we do or don’t like it, and to accept that. Most of the things we haven’t tried yet are the things that we haven’t thought of!

Question: What’s the kinkiest thing you have done in your life?

Iainlthr: Oh boy. I guess it all depends on your definition of kinky. A lot of things we do all the time we don’t see as kinky, yet a lot of people would. As far as I’m concerned kinky is in the mind of the beholder. Trying to look at it objectively, I guess one of the more kinky things would have been when we went to a bath-house one night. I had a butt-plug in my arse, and a harness on under my street clothes all the way there on the train. Once inside, we found a cubicle and stripped off the street clothes but left the door open, and I was on my knees giving him a blow job while other guys watched. Eventually we finished up with five other guys around us masturbating and then cumming over us. I was so horny I came without being touched.

Question:Do you have any fantasies that you would like to fulfil?

Iainlthr: Thousands, I just haven’t thought of them yet. One fantasy that I do have which hasn’t been fulfilled, although we’re looking into it, would be to be the sole slave to a group of Masters who took turns to fuck me for hours on end.

I realize that I’m starting to sound like a sex maniac, or serious pervert or both, but I’m not. At least I don’t think so. I’m just lucky enough to have found my perfect match and to have a healthy libido without the inhibitions. We have managed to separate sex from love very clearly. Love is what we have for each other, what we share when there’s just us, and what we live for. Sex is something we do for physical pleasure, sometimes with other people, which involves no ‘love’ at all.

Question: What is your opinion about sex toys? Do you have any toys yourself and if so, do you like to use them?

Iainlthr: I love them. And yes, I like to use them, or to have them used on me. We have several butt plugs and dildoes, and have been known to improvise with other things. My favourite is a set of anal balls with a clip which attaches to a cockring, so that any movement of my dick pulls at the balls inside me. Incredible!

Question: What do you think about solo sex?

Iainlthr: In all honesty, I think solo sex is nothing more than a way to relieve the pressure when there is no-one around to share. I’m no stranger to it, but I’d rather not have to do it anymore than necessary. And I’m not talking about masturbation masturbation in a group can be fantastic, but all alone it’s a bit disappointing.

Question: What are your favourite; and least favourite positions?

Iainlthr: Favourite is definitely in the sling with my feet in stirrups and my wrists in handcuffs attached to the chains. Least favourite I don’t know that I’ve found a position I didn’t like, although the least successful seems to be lying on a bed on my side.

Question: Do you believe in one night stands?

Iainlthr: I sure do, as long as everyone understands that that’s exactly what it is. I don’t like one night stands where one person thinks it’s the start of something more. And we don’t do one night stands without each other. In other words, my partner and I are happy to have one night stands with another guy, or several other guys, as long as we’re both part of it and together. In all the years that we’ve been together I’ve only had a one night stand without him once, and told him about it the next day, and we fought. Besides, its much more fun when he’s there.

Question: What makes someone sexy to you?

Iainlthr: Confidence, in themselves and what they are doing. Of course a fantastic body doesn’t hurt.

Question: What is a major turn on for you during sex?

Iainlthr: Surrendering control to someone else, having them tell me what to do and how to please them.

Question: What is a major turn off for you during sex?

Iainlthr: Someone who doesn’t know what they want, or who isn’t prepared to try anything but a straight-forward in and out, all over in 30 seconds.

Question: Sex-talk. Do you like or dislike talking during sex?

Iainlthr: I like it a lot. We play out our fantasies during sex, and that includes lots of dirty talk, lots of orders and pleas, lots of name-calling and grunting and groaning.

Question: In bed or on the kitchen table?

Iainlthr: Never in bed. Beds are for sleeping. Ninety percent of the time, we are in our ‘sex room’ which has a sling set up, and lots of toys, with a TV playing porn movies. Other than that, well the kitchen table has seen some action, as has the garage, living room, patio and back yard.

Question: What is your favourite or most memorable moment in bed?

Iainlthr: In bed? See above! If you mean my favourite or most memorable moment involving sex, well … I think that would be the first time I had sex in full leathers. We had confessed our fantasies to each other, and after a lot of embarrassment and soul searching, had set up our sex room, including installing a sling. We had bought harnesses and some toys, and I had just purchased my first pair of chaps. I was so excited I almost came just getting into my gear, but being fucked while suspended in a sling, wearing a leather harness, chaps and boots, was unbelievable. My man took his time to try to make it last for both of us, and it was one of the hottest, horniest times I’ve ever known.

And Last but not least...

Question: You are #13 on the "Top 100 best scoring authors with more than 5 stories online, and an average vote higher than 9.0" lists with an average vote of 9.36. How does it feel make the list.? **

Iainlthr: It’s a strange feeling to be honest. I feel incredibly proud and honoured that so many people have thought enough of my stories to vote so highly. And I am always surprised at just how well the stories are received. I often expect to have people write to me and tell me they were disappointed with what I’ve written, yet more often than not it’s the opposite I get more and more praise, which I seriously wonder if I deserve. I know there are a lot of poor stories out there, but there’s also a hell of a lot of great stories much better than mine, so I’m constantly amazed to find my stuff voted so highly.

Question: Is there anybody on this site, who you would like to see interviewed? Why?

Iainlthr: I think either ardveche or jfinn. I really liked the interview you did with Lael Stalnaker back in May it was a real insight into a favourite author.

Question: Do you notice any differences between the "younger" writers on here, and between the "older writers" of this site?

Iainlthr: Not really. Perhaps the fact that ‘older’ [and I mean more experienced] writers tend to take a bit more care to ‘polish’ their stories up a bit. I know I did some of my earlier stories are much less refined than my later ones.

Question: Is there anything else you would like to say to the readers of this interview and your fans? Now is your chance...

Iainlthr: At the risk of repeating myself, I suppose I would just like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has read and enjoyed my stories, whether they’ve written to me or voted on them or not. As I’ve gone back over these questions and my answers, I feel as though I’ve painted myself as some kind of sex hungry pervert, but I’m not. All I ask is that you judge my stories on the basis of my stories whether or not you enjoy them, whether or not they inspire you, or excite you. What I do, personally, will come through in them, but should be irrelevant to how you feel when you read them.

I’ll share two thoughts, one on writing stories, and one on life in general.

Another author of erotic stories once said to me that as internet authors, our only payment is the comments and feedback we get from readers. That feedback can inspire us to keep going or cause us to give up altogether, so be honest in your feedback and comments, and give it generously.

Life is what happens to us somewhere between birth and death, despite all we try to do to prevent it. Sex is a big part of life, but it’s neither the biggest, nor the most important. If you be honest with your true inner feelings and ignore what society tells you is ‘right’, life can be the most amazing and wonderful experience. Romance and love are the most incredible part of life, and sex can be the most enjoyable, but don’t confuse the two. Love and sex can happen at the same time, but they can also happen separately and if they do, it shouldn’t reduce or cheapen your love.

** Please note the statistics noted were current at the time of this interview was done in May. Statistics can change daily, even hourly, so these may not be the exact numbers that you will find on the site when you read this interview.

Iainlthr, thank you for doing this interview for us. Everyone, don't forget to send him a message letting him know what you thought about the interview and to thank him for taking the time to do it.

Thanks for reading!
