EXAKTA66 INTERVIEW

Exakta66's first story was published here just a few months ago, at the end of 2009. But he's certainly one of our most prolific authors because, since then, he has published close to thirty new tales. So to begin... Who is Exakta66? Tell us a few things about you - name, age and so on.

Alan W, Jankowski, just turned 49... I think it is all in my profile.

Q: How and when did you begin writing erotic stories?

I started in April 2009 on another site. I came across an article on sex fantasy on the net, where there was a link to another sex fantasy/chat site where people post and others rate the stories... similar to here. After a few days of reading the stories, the idea of trying to get a story up on their Hottest Fantasy list came into my head. It was strictly a challenge, I never thought about writing stories before. I didn't want to write the usual guy fantasies like sex with two women, sex with a neighbor, etc. since they seemed to be covered a hundred times over, so my writing took a different direction.

My first story, posted April 21, 2009 was "Jimmy Gets Replaced." I thought it was so clever and it was based on a true story told to me by an ex-girlfriend. Nobody else seemed to notice. I thought I didn't have much of a career as an erotic writer. However I was on Fling.com at the time and my first "Fling Friend" was a girl who liked to get tied up and had braided hair that reminded me of rope. I looked at her pics and said 'Hmmm, likes to get tied up, hair like rope... there is a story here' so I wrote "Morning In The Park" and that was a huge hit. After that, I just kept writing... wrote 41 stories in the first three months.

Q: Have you published anywhere other than ES.com?

Yes, ten other sites plus a couple poetry sites. I have 46 or so poems on Poetry Craze... my poems do extremely well everywhere but here... I don't even bother to post my poems here anymore, and a lot of my stories can't post on ES because of certain rules... I have 86 poems/stories/plays on another story site. Oh, did I mention I wrote two plays as well?

Q: I'm sure readers have their own vision of what you look like, and who you are - how much of yourself do you include in your stories?

A lot of myself creeps into my work. I cannot help but draw on past experience and since it is me who writes the stories, they are often a reflection of myself... for better or worse I might add.

Q: What is it about writing erotica that you most enjoy?

Initially I did it just to see if I could write a top story, but now I find it a bit of a release... maybe it is therapeutic... and I still enjoy the comments and feedback I get from readers.

Q: Do you write from experience or fantasy? Or maybe a combination of the two?

A combination of the two... I think it would be hard to write about sex without a certain level of experience... perhaps that is why I think the best writers are, um, "older"...

Q: Is there anything you have written into a story that you would really like to try in "real life", but haven't yet been able to?

"Lost Tribe" is my favorite story of mine... if that helps you.

Q: Does your partner or any of your friends know that you write? What do they think?

Yes, I put my friends in my stories to get them to read them. Pete in "Lost Tribe" is a neighbor, he is also the neighbor in "Clubhouse"... Joe Malgeri mentioned in "Your Eyes" is a real person and friend of mine. I make no secret of my new hobby. I am reluctant to put anyone I know in an actual sex scene, though I did meet a girl named Cindy at the Flemington Fair as described in "Carnival Knowledge"... a lot of reality creeps into my stories.

My father has read all my stories as well... it's really no secret and I am not very anonymous.

Q: How about in more general terms - how do you feel about the "outside world"'s perception of erotic writing?

I don't think about it outside the context of story sites... and I seem to have a lot of fans on some.

Q: One thing that I love about ES is that you very quickly build up a community of fans, who enjoy writing to and hearing from their favorite authors. Do you have any favorite topics that have surfaced in these "conversations"?

I have to be honest here... I don't spend a lot of time on ES, I'm a bit of a newcomer here. I spend more time on sites I've been on longer, though I have got a great reception on a couple of stories here, notably "Marital Duty" which seems to have more fans here than any other site. Apparently I wrote the life story for more than a few members on ES.

Q: How do you feel when you receive negative comments or very low votes from readers?

Very low votes I feel are generally just malicious, jealous acts... I've had stories like "Sexual Healing" which was the most popular story on another site with 23 "5" votes... their top score... and then someone comes along and gives it a 2 to knock it off the top of the list... happens all the time.

Q: And do you read, and respond to, other writers on the site? Who are your favorites?

I have read DonAbdul and Elaine's stuff... but only because I know them from other sites... I learned about ES from Don.

I do intend to start reading some of the top rated stories on here... there are some that are quite popular. I really don't read much anymore unless I run out of story ideas... and that has not happened in a while.

Q: Have you ever been filmed or photographed having sex?

No... and I don't expect that to change.

Q: Do you remember the first pornography you ever saw?

Back in high school... didn't leave a real lasting memory....

Q: What's the kinkiest thing you have ever done? ?

I think I went to an S & M club once... but only limited participation... I am actually a fairly conservative guy...

Q: Do you have any fantasies that you would like to fulfill?

Probably too many to list.

Q: What is a major turn on for you during sex?

Open-mindedness and a willingness to experiment...

Q: How about a major turn off?

Lack of the above.

Q: How do you feel about same sex relationships, both personally and as a writer?

Not something I am into personally, and not something I write about... though like most guys I guess I have a double standard... it's fine for two females... not because I think there is anything wrong with anything between two consenting adults, I just find sex with another guy so unappealing that I could neither do it or write about it...

Q: Do you explore these feelings, positive and negative in your stories?

No.

Q: How long does it take for you to write a story? Could you talk us through the process?

I usually work the story out in my head before I start... otherwise, I would sit in front of the computer and stare at a blank screen. Still, it takes me about an hour per page in Word to write a story. That includes coffee and cigarette breaks, though. I think my process is different from most writers. I don't write "rough drafts" and then go back through them. I sit there and get it right the first time. In fact, once I type the last word and put the date, I post the story on another site. I don't even read the story until after it posts, and then only to correct any errors I might have missed... the site I post on first allows a 24 hour edit period.

Q: Right now, your most popular story is Sexual Healing, with an average vote of 9.54. Do you agree that this is your best? Why do you think it struck such a chord?

It's interesting that story... I had reservations about doing it because I thought it might be distasteful to some because the main character has cancer. I was prepared for an onslaught of 1 votes, but instead that story has taken on a life of it's own both on here and various other sites... it became the top story on a couple sites. I have been getting some very touching messages from widowers and cancer survivors since posting that story... I could not have foreseen the reaction it has generated.

I started writing that story back in October after reading a story by another author where the main character finds love after a period of time caring for her sick mother who eventually dies. It gave me the idea of whether "love can really conquer all", including illness. I started writing it in third person, but stopped after about a page. I don't write well in third person, and it really was not my story.

A couple of months ago I created a new persona on another site called 67Goat. He is currently a 63 year-old married man. The whole idea of 67Goat was for me to write some story ideas I had which took place in the sixties... sixties cars, music, etc. I recently looked through some unfinished stories I had on my computer and when I came across "Sexual Healing" I realized that it was perfect as a Gary aka 67Goat story, so I was able to finish it in first person. That story has really taken on a life of it's own, so to speak... in fact, I am writing up one more story and then I plan on turning it into a novel. I never really had any real aspirations as a writer, but the reaction to that story made me think about the possibilities.

Getting back to the question... is it my best? Maybe for what it is, a love story. I like to think my creative peak is "Eve" and "The Queen", which were written back to back and even share a paragraph... lol.

When I first started writing I wrote sex stories like "Morning In The Park" and humor pieces like "Dream Job" but never the two shall meet. Finally, starting with story number 22, "Mistaken Identity" I got the brilliant idea of combining the two... I think that whole period in my writing culminated in "The Queen" which really represents where my writing was at during that period.

It was interesting, because another author commented that I never express feelings in my writing, and probably not in my speech... some girls are just so perceptive, so I wrote "The Review" which got analyzed to death in the comment section on another site... some people took it so literally. I took two months off after that, to clear my head a bit. During that time, I actually read a romance novel... something I never did before, and took four pages of notes for my next story, "Young Lust, First Lust. Sweet Devotion" which is my only "personal" story. Two days later I wrote "Your Eyes" which was the first story of mine to really get any notice... it was featured in an erotica writer's newsletter and is an Editor Pick on another site.

Anyway... I sort of came back as a romantic writer and my stories have done well... but, my personal favorites are still the older pre-romance stuff... My favorite stories of mine are "Lost Tribe", "Dream Job" and "The Queen."

Q: Is there anything else you would like to say to the readers of this interview and your fans? Now is your chance.

I've probably rambled enough...

Q: Finally, do you have a website or a blog, where your fans can visit and maybe learn more about you?

If they don't know enough by now... no... I do have notes about each of my stories on a couple other sites... I may add that to my profile here... But, if anyone here wants to know anything more about me or my stories, feel free to message me... I answer all my messages and really do enjoy hearing from readers....
