TJC INTERVIEW

TJC has been writing for us since 2007, since then he has published over thirty stories. Okay, so who is TJC? Tell us a few things about you - name, age and so on.

My name is Tom and I'm 48 years old. Some of my passions are baseball, history, and wine. I like to run to stay in shape. I've done some half marathons and plan to do a full marathon within the next year or so.

Q. How and when did you begin writing erotic stories?

Writing has been a hobby of mine for a long time and I would often say I'd like more people to read my stuff online. A friend suggested I write erotica, as a lot of people read that online and I decided to give it a try. It's worked out well and I've really enjoyed it.

Q. Have you published anywhere other than ES.com?

I post my non-erotic mainstream stories at nicestories.com. I've been writing there since about 2004, I think.

Q. I'm sure readers have their own vision of who you are - how much of yourself do you include in your stories?

I think there are parts of me in all my characters, male and female, but overall I think Tovar (Introducing Elena Erickson), Lorenzo (of the Lorenzo and Julie series) and Corb are most like me. Make no mistake, though, they're fictional. ;-).

Q. You have several regularly recurring characters in your stories. Are they based on anybody in particular?

I would say they are amalgams of people I know as well as myself and of course my imagination. My head gets crowded with fictional characters, believe me.

Q. What is it about writing erotica that you most enjoy?

People reading it and getting pleasure from it. I've had e-mails from fans that say they read some of my stories with their lovers. That is thrilling to me.

Q. Many of your stories appear in the Male Domination category. What can you tell us about that?

In real life I tend to be dominant sexually, not really BDSM, but aggressive. The genre is most me, and I think it's popular with readers.

Q. Is there anything that happens in your stories that you would really like to try in "real life", but haven't yet been able to?

I would like to try a real life BDSM relationship. When the time is right. We'll see.

Q. Does your partner or any of your friends know that you write? What do they think?

Yes, my partner and friends know I write. They know about the erotica and mainstream stories. They read it and enjoy it, but my best fans are people I've never actually met truth be told.

Q. How about in more general terms - how do you feel about the "outside world"'s perception of erotic writing?

For the most part erotica is viewed as a lesser version of artistic expression, at least in my opinion, and that's too bad. To me, whether it's erotica, mainstream, poetry, or anything, expressing one's self in words is important and it's a wonderful release.

Q. One thing that I love about ES is that you very quickly build up a community of fans, who enjoy writing to and hearing from their favorite authors. Do you have any favorite topics that have surfaced in these "conversations"?

Speaking with others about writing or sex, can be a learning experience. One thing that surprised me was the amount of women that really love the male domination genre. I think most of my readers are female and when I get e-mails saying how they get turned on by my work, it means a great deal. Even more so when they say the story was entertaining. I know one fan who named her fish Lorenzo after Lorenzo Thomas. I love that!!!

Q. How do you feel when you receive negative comments or very low votes from readers?

If the negative feedback is based on poor writing, dull story, etc, I can live with that. Most of the negative feedback I've gotten, and it's been very little, is about my content. For example I got a vote of 2 once because the person said they didn't like women being spanked.....that's fine, but it's consensual and lots of people, both men and women, DO like it. I don't think that was a fair vote. If you don't like male domination, don't read it.

Q. What kind of stories would you never write?

I'm open to writing any type of story. Pushing the envelope in fiction and fantasy is fun.

Q. And do you read, and respond to, other writers on the site? Who are your favorites?

I don't read as much as I'd like since work has dominated my life the past year. I haven't even written as much as I used to, but I hope to improve on that. Some of my favorites are CumGirl, Dmarie, KathHal, Kristen S, Ms Minx, and your stuff, Naughty Miranda. I recommend any of these authors. There are a lot of creative people at ES.

Q. Do you remember the first pornography you ever saw?

I believe it was a PLAYBOY magazine when I was a kid, but that wasn't really porn. The first porn video I ever saw was some nameless loop. I prefer a story with my erotic images.

Q. What's the kinkiest thing you have ever done?

When I was in the military years ago, I had two girls at once. That was fun. I also knew a girl who liked to have me pee on her after sex. She'd get on all fours in the tub and have me do it. Wasn't my thing, but she really loved it.

Q. What is a major turn on for you during sex?

A woman who is adventurous, open to trying things. I love bondage and sensual spankings. A woman tied up is beautiful to me and I love the feel of her warm skin under my hand as I spank her. All consensual of course.

Q. How about a major turn off?

I'm open to anything pretty much.

Q. How do you feel about same sex relationships, both personally and as a writer?

Personally, I feel people should date, sleep with, marry whoever they want. Love is love, attraction is attraction. As a writer I've dabbled a little with lesbian sex, like most men I'm turned on by two women. I've never tried gay men stuff because I'm heterosexual and I'm not sure I could pull it off realistically.

Q. How long does it take for you to write a story? Could you talk us through the process?

Whether I am writing erotica, mainstream, fiction or non fiction, I write in three drafts. I read my second draft out loud as it helps me see how it sounds in the reader's head. Then my third draft is polish. As far as time, it varies. Some of my work comes out quick, some takes a long time. Never know.

Q. Right now, your most popular story is "Into The Nether Land." Do you agree that this is your best? And why do you think they struck such a chord?

That surprises me, as far as it being my most popular. I think it struck a chord because it was other worldly and dangerous. My best, though, I think are the series I've done, both Lorenzo/Julie and the Elena Erickson series. I received a great deal of feedback on those and continue to get mail on them. I've considered doing a sequel to one of them, but I'd have to feel the story is good. To me the story is more important than the sex. A little danger, mystery, conflict, etc...the sex is important, but the story to me is top priority.

Q. Is there anything else you would like to say to the readers of this interview and your fans? Now is your chance...

Just that I'm sorry I haven't written as much lately, that real life has left me less time. I do promise to write more as soon as I can. I value the people who have me as a favorite author. I consider it an honor. I mean that.
