It was a cold and blustery night out as you walked towards my building, wondering what to expect. It had been a while since we’d seen each other and a few things had changed, we’d ‘officially’ began dating for one. Your mind wanders as you approach the door, looking at the blanket of white that covers the earth, streets, walkways, and virtually everything else. You open the outer door and climb the stairs to my room. Knocking on the door you hear me inside moving about, making sure everything is ready.

Inside I am looking around the room to see if I’d forgotten anything. Lights were about half way down, drinks in the fridge getting cold, television on ready to start a movie, yep, everything was set. I check myself in the mirror really quick to convince myself that I am ‘presentable’ and open the door just as you start to knock a second time.

As you walk through the doorway your face lights up, as does mine. It’s only been a few weeks or so but still it’s been too long. We take each other in arm as we hug our hellos and whisper how much we missed one another and how good it is to be together again. You take off your coat and I note to myself that you look as good as ever. I put your coat in the closet and lead you over to the futon.
