AUCTIONED

The sun scorched down upon the earth mercilessly. There was not a cloud in the sky for the fierce globe to hide behind, and not an attempt of a slight breeze was made. This here was the backdrop for the magnificent Great Pyramid of Giza.

Nick stood at the perimetres, feeling somewhat humbled. He wiped the sweat off his brow and took a healthy guzzle from his water bottle. "This is it," he whispered to himself. Readjusting the straps of his heavy backpack, he slowly made his way towards the ancient structure.

He had been planning this trip to Egypt for the last 5 years and at last it has become a reality. His aim was to visit as many historic landmarks and study as much of the rich history of this wonderful country as he can during his short stay here of only two weeks. Giza was his first stop. It was the location of the pyramid erected for the pharaoh Khufu. This Great Pyramid was one of the Seven Wonders of the World and the only one of its kind to have a gallery upon its ascending entry. Nick panted as he climbed over the enormous limestone blocks.
