It was the beginning of her junior year, and Kerry was spending a semester at a Colorado campus when she decided to take on a third job. Her first two were admittedly wearing her out completely, but between paying for school, rent and general expenses, her account was wiped out at the end of every week, and she could barely afford to make her bills and eat at the same time. Her friend Marc had mentioned once to her about a popular bar in the downtown Denver area that was hiring cocktail waitresses. No experience required; they were willing to train young co-eds at no extra cost.

She hopped on the shuttle bus to the city, and got out at the corner of Leiden and 1st Avenue, and walked into the building, the address of which Marc had scribbled on a piece of paper for her. As she stepped inside the heavy steel doors, she realized that it was a fairly classy establishment. Not a strip joint or sleazy watering hole by any stretch of the imagination. A leggy brunette woman rounded the corner to greet her as the bells attached to the top of the door alerted her of Kerry's entrance.

"Hi, I'm Julie! I'm the manager here; you must be Kerry! We were expecting you!" she said in the friendliest of voices, extending her right hand and leading Kerry to the office at the back of the bar and down the winding stairwell. ...
