April Comes Home

Most people aren't excited about an up-coming high school reunion, but I was. It had been ten years since most of us had seen each other. Of course, a few of us kept in contact with each other through college, but after college graduation, we all seemed to go our separate ways.

We were a class of 250. I expected about 100 classmates to show up during the weekend's activities. As the weekend came closer, we all started calling each other to make sure everyone we wanted to see would be at the reunion. E-mail was non-existent at this time, so it took some effort to get in touch with everyone. I was able to get in touch with most of the people I was interested in seeing, and through my contacts, I found out just about everyone who would be in town for the weekend. I was happy to hear that April would be in town.

April and I were a couple throughout our senior year and during the summer after graduation. I went off to college in the fall while April stayed in town to attend the local community college and to work. The college I chose was a 13 hour drive from home, so I wasn't planning on coming home very often during the first year. I made it home for Thanksgiving and again at Christmas break. April and I would speak on the phone quite often, and we would write almost weekly.
