I guess moving to a new city does have some advantages, but an active social life is not one of them. Especially when I moved here to be the new regional sales manager, you know how they say it's lonely at the top, well they're right. Sometimes I get so jealous of the sales staff when I hear them talking about going out to the hottest bars and clubs in town. I remember a couple of years ago when I was at that stage, a recent college grad with my first real job and some disposable cash for the first time. But I knew I didn't want to be stuck there forever so I put forth that extra effort and began my climb up the corporate ladder.

At first I thought my quick advancement was due entirely to my sales acumen and leadership ability. It wasn't until after I had received my third promotion that I realized that my being a woman had a lot to do with my success. Seems we needed a few more women in management to even out the numbers. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. At first it really bothered me but then I thought, "Screw it. It doesn't matter how I got here, as long as I got here." So with my last promotion came the big move to a new office and new city.

Its not even like I have time to go out, but it would be nice to have the option I guess. Its particularly difficult for me since I'm not interested in the typical night out cruising for guys, I'm more into the "alternative" lifestyles. I'm not exactly open about it though, I'm sort of a closet lesbian. I know I prefer women; I just don't want ...
