The Post Game Celebration

My wife Kris and I return to our alma mater each fall for a few football games. We attended a prominent University with a big time football program. We enjoy returning each fall to see old friends, see the beautiful campus again and of course to pretend we are college students for a few more days. We always enjoy these weekends back at school. However; our last trip back was by far the best one yet.

The Football team started the season uncharacteristically slow. The team is almost always ranked in the top 10. This year they lost the first 4 games. Worse yet, all four teams were not very good and each loss was considered a major upset. After losing the league opener they turned it around and managed to start winning. Sure, the teams they were playing were not the conference powers, but at this point a win was a win. We managed to watch a couple of the victories. Mid November they had a game against their rivals. This game usually decided the conference champion. This year would be no different. Our guys were back to playing well despite the 4 losses and lack of a ranking. With only one conference loss they could expect to finish the season as conference champs if they knocked off this team. Kris and I were looking forward to the weekend away and a great game.
