PINK FRIDAY

It was Friday, almost quitting time, and the week had dragged on like four days of birth contractions. Everything seemed to go wrong. The transition to the new computer system had some glitches. On Monday, orders were lost and never printed in the warehouse. Tuesday they printed but with the wrong addresses and were shipped to wrong customers. Wednesday was an all night affair correcting the mistakes of Tuesday. The experts came in on Thursday, and after another late night dinner at the office everything seemed to be running smoothly Friday Morning. Finally, Steve could see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Steve also learned more about the character of his co-workers than ever before. At 45, he was experienced in all the roles his co-workers filled, but had lost track of some of the details involved. It was a good relearning experience for him as manager. Learning to work side by side instead of just delegating things to be done. In particular he saw Sallie, a female co-worker who had been with the company 10 years longer than him in a new light. For a woman in her early fifties, he had always noted how attractive she was.
