The Wax Museum!

My wife and I had often gone to Niagara Falls to the Canadian side, for weekend getaways and holidays. The immediate Falls area was very romantic at night, with lit up reflecting pools, extensive flower beds and seeing couples who really were just starting out their life together and were still deeply in love and probably honeymooning there.

We also liked the carnival atmosphere on Clifton Hill and Lundy's Lane. We used to visit the different attractions such as the waltzing waters, Marineland, back before it was a large amusement park, the chinzy souvenier shops, different restaurants and Ripley's Museum. However no visit seemed quite complete enough without visiting the Wax Museums. One particular display always stuck in my mind, that was the wax sculpture of Cleopatra.

Living out of state for several years and having a child had made it be many years since we had visited. Much of the enjoyment of Niagara Falls is the romantic atmosphere at night. Having children makes it hard to enjoy many of the more romantic things that the nights bring, afterall children tend to go to bed early.

So it kind of brought mixed feelings in me when I found that I had to attend a conference for work that was being held in the city of Niagara ...
