Afternoon Delight

The longer Emily sat at her office desk, the more frustrated she became. She tried to accomplish the tasks that needed to be done for next weeks deadline but no matter how hard she tried, she just wasn't getting anywhere. Everything that could go wrong today was going wrong. It was unusually hot for this early in the summer and the air conditioning in her building had gone on the fritz. Try as she might, she just couldn't concentrate any longer. She decided to call it a day and head home early. Maybe there she would be able to get some work accomplished.

She tried to relax and compose herself on her ride home from the office. The highway was unusually busy for this time of the day. It was only Thursday after all. I guess others had the same idea as she did. The heat in the car was stifling. She could not wait to get home and get out of these hot and sticky clothes. As she pulled into the driveway she realized that she was not going to be able to get any work done. Her neighbour who was a sweet little lady also ran a day care. She counted 7 screaming toddlers in the yard next door. She opened her car door and walked up to the house. So much for some peace and quiet, now what was she going to do?

Emily walked into the house and put her keys and briefcase down on the counter. She could easily hear the kids from inside. She loved kids ...
