THE BARMAID

John Halland had simply gone to the pub for a quiet drink. He certainly wasn't expecting, or looking for, anything more.

He walked into the pub just after 7pm. It was usually quiet and John sat at his normal seat at the bar. The barmaid, seeing him walk in and sit down, got his usual beer ready and took it to him.
