After Maddi, my greatest love is cricket. I play for the local league team and while we are not one of the top teams we do pretty well considering. I'm a fast bowler, but not much of a batter so on my turn I usually come in near the tail end, and am usually out pretty quickly.

However, just of late things have changed and when I am at the crease it's as though I can "see" the ball more clearly, I can read it better and my batting average has steadily gone up. The last two games Chris, the Captain, has put me slightly up the batting order to see how I manage and even if I do say so myself I don't think I have let the team down. In fact in my last match I scored 84 and managed to stay in when all my batting partners lost their wickets.

Anyway, this last Saturday we had a match against our big rivals against whom we haven't one a match for some time, so you can understand the obvious nervousness of the whole team and me in particular as Chris has decided to keep me batting up at number 6. However, Maddi had come to watch the match which helped me calm my nervous somewhat. Being only an amateur league side there is no formality and wives and girlfriends can mix with the players during the day, which is a great comfort to me to have Maddi close to the boundary when I am not bowling.

The match is a fifty over match and having won the toss our rivals decide they will bat. As I said at the top, bowling is my main forte ...
