It is late when I finally arrived. I peer through the semi darkness to find the house numbers as I follow the crudely drawn map made by the real estate lady. It looks to be a nice neighborhood as she had promised it was. I am so nervous. My husband is being transferred from Michigan to Kentucky and his company has made the arrangements and found a house for us to rent until ours sold back home. Very generous really, but it means that I really have no say in the house we would be spending the next few months in.

The house must be in the next block, I slow the car even more taking in the neighbor hood in the dimness. It seems to be a good neighborhood. I could see some kids playing in their yards, they looked to be about the same ages as my boys. I pang of loneliness runs through me as I remember I would be here alone for the whole week. The boys were staying with my parents enjoying a week of spoiling. They will arrive next weekend with my husband. I came early to unpack and take care of moving in stuff, like enrolling the kids in school.

I pull up into the driveway and take a good look at our house. It is big and looked to be fairly well taken care of. "Well, it could be a whole lot worse" I mumble to myself. I walk up and unlock the door with the key the realtor had sent me. I hoped the movers had arrived already and set up the larger stuff, especially the beds. I suddenly felt the effects of 10 straight hours of driving. I peer into the dark interior and saw shadows of what could only be furniture and boxes. I sigh in ...
