It was Friday night in a small college town and I was sitting alone in my cramped studio apartment. Being the new girl in town I hadn't yet made any friends and didn't know where the local hangouts were. I was all dressed up but no place to go. Not wanting to spend a Friday night alone I decided to strike out on my own, check out the neighborhood and maybe find a new hangout where I could mingle with the locals.

Before too long I came to a corner bar, the muffled sound of loud music and laughtr coming from inside. The flashing neon sign said,"Badboys". Stepping inside I stood by the door for a moment allowing my eyes to adjust to the darkness. It smelled of cigarette smoke and stale beer. The regulars seemed to be a mix of ex-felons, white trash and other misfits of society. Not exactly my kind of crowd,but,"When in Rome,do as the Romans",goes the saying. I snaked my way through the crowd to an empty table and chair in a dark corner, content for the moment to just sit and watch.
