Brad was exhausted. It had been a long week deejaying at the Club Copper Penny. Not only had he handled his own shifts, but he had been subbing for another guy and had put in some extra hours. The additional pay was nice, but he felt drained and in need of some rest and recreation.

The end of his shift - which today, Saturday, ran from 11PM to 1AM - had finally arrived and his replacement, who would finish out the evening, had arrived. Wearily, he filled Dan, the new arrival, in on any minor details he might need to know, gathered up some of his personal CDs that he'd brought from home, rounded up his share of tips from the tip jar next to the DJ booth and from the wait staff (and the waitresses at this club, with few exceptions, were usually pretty generous)and clocked out. Bone-tired, he pushed through the front door and headed into the parking lot, angling across to where he usually parked his black Jeep.

It had been a normal busy Saturday and the club had been packed. The dance floor had been crowded and the requests had kept him busy juggling CDs all evening. There had been a couple of birthday parties, some fairly loud and obnoxious bowlers and a bachlorette party that had dominated the requests. He'd played everything from Bob Segar to Bee Gees to No Doubt - ranging from Classic Rock to Disco to Modern Dance stuff, with smatterings of Hip Hop and Country thrown in. Now his mind and body were numb and the cool June evening air felt good.
