It had been a lovely drive on a beautiful early spring day. The back roads we took were smooth and winding, perfect for the little red sports car. The roar of the engine, the wind in my hair, flying around the corners, sitting beside the man I loved, everything was perfect, exciting, and fun.

Bodega Bay was a small town on the coast about sixty miles north of San Francisco, and we got there at about 11:30. It was a sleepy little place, and I liked the ocean smell; fresh and clean. The morning fog was just burning off, and it looked like it was going to be a beautiful day. Of course I was looking at the entire world through rose colored glasses, and everything seemed perfect and wonderful. I was joyous. I was exhilirated. I was in love.
