Arlene had just come home from a hard day at work and the last thing she had on her mind was going out, even though it was Friday and that was their "date" night. When she entered the house, Rob met her at the door. He took her bags and exchanged them with a captain and coke. Their eyes met and he realized how much it meant to her that he had done this for her. He let her enter the house and greet the kids. He told her they were invited to a costume party that evening at a friend's house. She started to protest, explaining her fatigue. He told her they should go as the hosts were expecting them and they were their best friends. He went on to explain that he had already gotten the costumes and a baby sitter (his parents were taking the kids for the night). That eased her mind a little more and she continued to sip her captain and coke. She was still not enthused with going and he could tell. He told her to sit and relax and enjoy the kids. They were already packed and the grandparents would be here to get them shortly. Off he went to run a warm, candle-lit bubble bath to relax her.
