Night Shift - Part 6

Jack Armstrong was waiting for me in his office when I arrived. Standing up as I walked in we exchanged the usual pleasantries. He moved in front of the desk and told me to sit down at my new desk.

"You're not kidding are you?" I asked.

"No, we're going to give you a shot at being PD. That's based on such a strong recomdation from Bob Madison. He thinks very highly of you and your abilities."

"I really want to thank you Jack and I won't let you down. What about my salary?" Bob Madison had told me what Randy Fox's salary had been.

"We'll start you at what Randy was making twenty two thousand a year."

I liked Jack but I didn't trust him. Randy had made twenty five thousand.

"I was thinking more like twenty seven Jack. I want the job badly but you know it's like being on call seven days a week with a lot of responsibility." I wasn't going to let him walk over me just because I was a woman.
