One Saturday Afternoon Part 2: Getting To Know The Neighbours

I stepped out of the shower as the phone rang. I hopped in right after the girl scout left so I could be fresh for my appointment with Monica in a couple of hours. I wrapped the towel around my wet body and ran to get the phone. I thought it might be my parents calling to say that had gotten to my grandmother's all right. They went there for the weekend to help her move into a retirement home. I almost crashed into the hall table as I slipped on the floor, but I made it to the phone. "Hello," I panted, as I was out of breath. The voice on the other end of the line wasn't my parents however.

"Hi, Paul? It's Maxine from next door. Are your parents home?" I told her they weren't and that they would be gone all weekend. "Oh that's too bad. There's something wrong with my pool, the filter, or something. Say do you know anything about fixing pools?" As it happened I did. For the last couple of summers I had worked for a local pool care store and did some repair runs with their full-time guy.

"Sure. I'll be over in couple of minutes to have a look at it. Are there any tools I should bring with me?"
