This really happened at a wedding I was at a few years ago.

It was a big wedding in a small town. The reception was in a fancy hotel I'd never been to before, and everyone seemed intent on getting drunk, especially Theresa, the maid of honour.

Theresa was there with Donald, her fiance; he was the only one not drinking much, and he seemed a bit unhappy with Theresa, who spent most of her time dancing with the best man, Bob.

Around midnight the DJ announced that some people were going to dance on a table, the big head table that had been pushed to the side of the room for the dancing after dinner.

Some funky music began to play, and then Theresa and Bob clambered up on the table, dancing a little foolishly. I think Theresa was trying to make Donald jealous or something.

He just watched for a while, not looking too happy, then Theresa and Bob signaled at him to come up and join them. He resisted for a while, but the crowd began to hoot and holler, so he reluctantly got up on the table.

The situation looked odd and interesting somehow, so I edged my way closer so I can see and also hear what was going on. ...
