THE PARTY

The shrieks and noise coming from my living room brought back pleasant memories. My neighbor's 18 year old daughter was having a sleep over party at my home. I was sure they wouldn't get much sleep. Heather's father had received a promotion with his company that required him to move to Florida. Thats why she's living with me, being her neighbor and her mother's best friend for 20 years. I've always been sort of a second mother to Heather, having babysat her since she was a baby. Having no childiren of my own, it was a natural solution to the families problem, letting Heather stay with me to finish her school with her friends. In fact, she's called me Aunty Kate since she was old enought to talk.

Back to the party. The girls had already devoured the junk food Heather had me buy and now they were working on the 2 cases of soft drinks that filled the fridge.
