Twas the night before Christmas... And all through the house.. Not a creature was stirring... Not even... a mouse??...

"Damn, she's gonna kill me" I muttered to myself as I drove down the desolate Christmas Eve streets envying all those who must by now be inside, warm and well fed. I looked at the digital clock on the dashboard: 2:45 am; not only warm and fed...but probably asleep too, waiting for Santa Clause.

"Not even Christmas Eve anymore" I muttered again as I turned the corner that led to my home.

A sigh escaped my lips, I had let her down, my beautiful Kaylee. I was supposed to be home, we were supposed to spend it together just the two of us.

"Damn my job, stupid boss" I grumbled again.

After much arguing it had been decided I had some extra work that couldn't wait. I ended up having to call home and tell her I would be late; her soft sigh nearly broke my heart, it sounded so sad. She would most likely be pissed at me, for being unable to come home. I sighed and made another turn, thinking of the first time I had beheld the woman of my dreams.
