"And this", said Kyle as he turned the key and opened the door, "is my apartment." He ushered Liz inside and watched her take in her surroundings. His furniture was new, but littered with magazines and clothes and she noticed that his kitchen was clean for the most part, with the exception of the stack of dirty dishes consuming his sink. Overall it could have been a really nice place with a little bit of help.

"Sorry about the mess", he continued, "but I didn't really have time to clean between work and taking you to dinner."

"It's fine", she assured him, smiling. "I do like it, even though it needs a little help. But, hey...we all have our faults, and it's a helluva lot better than my house, complete with parents."

"True", he laughed. "But I don't want you thinking I'm a complete loser. At least, not yet."

"How could I say you were a complete loser?" asked Liz. "You're fuckin' 24. You have a job, your own apartment, a really nice car, and a great social life. I wish I had half of that."

"Don't forget about my girl", he said, with a smirk on his face, as he came up behind her and put his arms around her waist. Liz leaned back into his arms and covered his hands with her own. ...
