"I'm sorry, you do...what?" He grins at me, and I feel a familiar heat in my groin. "You heard me" he says, taking a drink of beer. "You want to come and see some of my stuff?" I can't help laughing. "That stuff's so...well, tacky." He raises an eyebrow. "That's because you've never tried it" he says, leaning forward and lightly stoking the back of my hand with his fingertip. His touch is like an electric shock. I look deep into his gorgeous brown eyes, marvelling at the twists of fate that have brought me here, to this table in a bar in Montmartre, when only last week I was almost weeping with boredom, sitting in front of my computer at the bank. Stop. Rewind.

Paris in the spring. Everyone's idea of the perfect romantic holiday. Billy bought the tickets as an anniversary present. It wasn't technically any kind of anniversary. We'd only been together for three months. A very intense three months, mind you. It was like a rollercoaster, exhilarating and unpredictable. The sex was amazing. It felt as if I hardly had time to catch my breath...and then, suddenly, it was all over.

Which was why I decided to go to Paris for a romantic break, all by myself. No way he was getting a refund on the tickets, the little bastard!
