Doing the dishes

Part 1 - Meeting Brenda

"I hope, after this is over, Claire appreciates what we have done for her." I complain my wife. My wife's name is Miriam (Mimi). We work in the same company. It is a huge conglomerate. So we rarely see each other at all. And Claire is one of my wife's five best friends. They hang out together more than we do. They all work in the same area in the company. Although I enjoy going out with my wife, having other people means that I don't have to tag along on shopping trips.

My wife is a very good cook. Today, we are preparing a banquet for Claire's 30th Birthday. I had recommended in just hiring a catering service and everybody just chip in, but want it special. The original plan was to have it at Angela's (another one of the five) place. In the last minute, their septic tank decided to leak. The second option was our place. So here we are - a couple of hours before the first guest arrives and we are still waiting for a few dishes left baking in the oven.

The plan was to cook the dishes, put them into containers and drive down to Angela's. We would clean up later after we come back from the party. Due to the change in venue, I am now pressed for time. I have to clean up and wash the dishes. I also have to set up the tables in the back ...
