Tales from Wang Li's Sports Bar: Ryan's Return

It was the weekend after 4th of July and I found myself eating dinner with my family at Wang Li's Sports Bar. Work for the last few months had been hell. The company I work for had expanded and wanted to remodel our office suite. Since the IT department had so many requirements, the regional vice president put me in charge of overseeing the whole project. They hired a local contractor to do all the work, and I had to watch every step of the process to make sure things got done right. We needed ethernet drops and phone jacks EVERYWHERE and a separate high capacity air conditioning system for the server rooms, not to mention all the walls that needed to be knocked down and moved. It was a nightmare, but in the end everything worked out. There was even a little budget left over for a built-in wall unit for the vp's new office and some nice paneling for my boss' office. That probably explains why they approved my little mini-vacation without batting an eye. It never hurts to do a little sucking up, especially when it doesn't cost you anything.

I'd driven to my parents house the morning of the Fourth and my mother had been waiting on me and feeding me ever since. When Saturday rolled around I said I wanted to take everyone out to dinner, mostly to give my mom the night off.
