It was almost nine o'clock before Rachel stepped out of the beach front clothing store and into the warm sand. She brought her hands up to pull her dyed-brunette hair into a loose ponytail, sighing as she noticed the sun setting over the ocean. She had hoped to get some surfing in today, after all, her shift was supposed to end at 4pm. Like most days, the manager had found reason after reason for her to stay late and keeping working. Even now as she began to walk, he caught up with her.

"Hey Rachel, wait up! I'm sorry to keep you so late. How about I make it up to you over a slice of pizza or something?"

"No thanks Bob. I think I'm just going to go home and crash."

"You sure? My treat."

"Yeah, I'll see you tomorrow"

She turned to leave as Bob shrugged, looking rejected. He had been trying to pick her up all summer, forcing her to work late and extra days just to spend more time with here. But, there wasn't much she could do about it. The beach was always flooded with college kids looking for work in the in the summer. She'd be hard pressed to find a job in August. Oh well, it wouldn't be long until she was back at school anyway.
