Gavin Breaux was sick of his students at Westland high school. He would soon find out that the apple doesn't fall to far from the tree. Gavin had been teaching senior level Physics at the predominately white high school for two years, so he was used to some disrespect. It wasn't that he didn't know his subject; it wasn't that he was too demanding as a teacher, it was because he was black.

At the age of 35, Gavin had given up his career at NASA to pursue his true passion: teaching. Gavin had it all. Money, good looks, and a fabulous body. He looked more like a free safety from the NFL than someone who should be stuck in the lab all day. He was 6 feet even and 210 pound of caramel muscle. He would have loved to teach at an inner city school but none of them had the curricular that supported his Aerospace and Physics class. So with mild trepidation he took the position at Westland. It was a school full of old money. Most of the students' fathers were the corporate type and the moms were typical socialite, PTA, housewives.

Gavin's class was a required course for graduation, so like it or not he, the students had to give him some respect. The school year was going okay but there were always those who refused to work. During the year one student in particular gave him the most trouble. Kevin Bivin was stubborn, unpredictable, and wild and didn't like the fact that he had to take orders from a black man.
