I had reached a high point in my career and my work had been noticed by one of the big players in the industry. They wanted me to come and work for them on their new product in US. I suggested a better plan. I would work over here but be paid a normal US salary. The rest of their costs would be at our local rates, about half what they would normally pay. Also there would be less risk of competitors hearing about us. I told them I needed a basic office and an Office Assistant who I also wanted to pay in US dollars. I put together a budget that covered all that and few trips to the US for update reports. They liked both the idea and the numbers.

I rented some modest private office space above some shops and fitted it out with some nice office furniture. Now came the fun part, hiring an assistant. I placed an ad in the paper with enough information to make the job sound appealing and then waited for the CVs (resumes) to roll in.
