CHAPTER 22

Jody Simms was dressed in a light tan sweater, pleated skirt that ended just above the knees, and knee-high, soft, brown suede leather boots. She was very nervous as she followed Bonnie through the house to the large family room in the rear. This was the first time they had been together since the night Brad died, and she was apprehensive of why the wife of her husband's boss had asked her for tea.

"This is a beautiful home." She commented as they entered the family room. "I hope some day Jim and I can have one as nice."

"Thank you. I'm sure you will. Let's see, would you like tea, or something a little stronger?" Bonnie asked, walking toward the bar. She was wearing a colorful pair of silk lounging pajamas.

"I'm not really a tea drinker. Would a Marguarita be too much trouble?"

"Not at all. In fact, I was hoping you would like something like that." A few minutes later, the two women were comfortably seated, sipping their drinks, idly chatting about the happenings around town. Bonnie could tell that the younger women was nervous, and kept the conversation away from anything that had to do with the incident in the penthouse. After awhile, she could see Jody beginning to relax, ...
