I was a sophomore in college and I was in my advisors' office trying to get my advisor to approve my course selections for the fall semester. Even though it was against the judgment and wisdom of my advisor, I decided and wanted to take Biology 101.

"I don't understand why you want to take a class that has nothing to do with your major?" She asked me.

"Well, it's because I'm interested in Biology and I figured it would be a good way get rid of my science requirement," I replied.

"Still, there are a lot of other less strenuous classes you could be taking that would fit the bill. Why take a class with 200 Freshmen that also has a 2 hour lab once a week?"

"True, but I really do want to take the class. And besides, by taking it, I will be completely done with that requirement instead of having to find another science class, " I said. It was the only thing I could come up with at the time. There was no way I could tell her the real reason why I was taking the class.

She relented and signed off on my schedule. That was last spring and soon it became fall again. I was nervous and excited to be back at school. For the first day of Biology class, I made sure I got there extra early so that I could get a front row seat. Again, the reason ...
